I am not sure how to answer a question like this. All I know is that the German revolution ousted the Kaiser and put a democracy in his place. This was not how the government would stay obviously, because of the rise of the Nazi party and Hitler, who changed everything again. I am just wondering if there are any good sources out there on this topic or if anyone has some opinions on it.

I ask this in response to this dubious and very unscholarly article posted in your lazy step-brother subreddit /r/history.

I find ancient baths fascinating. I'm specifically looking for a book that also has images of the baths, ESPECIALLY if it also has good images of what they may have looked like at the time. I'd love to read about and see what the Terme di Caracalla might have looked like, for example. So yeah, looking for a book like that.

I just saw this with my friend over the weekend. We both really enjoyed it but I spent the whole movie wondering why someone would make up this incredibly unlikely story about the Queen of England and India/Islam out of thin air. I was shocked at the end to see that it was "based on true events recovered from Abdul Karim's journals" and now I can't stop thinking about how much truth there was to the tale. Any ideas?

With the Japanese emphasis on close combat and closing with the enemy, it seems like sub-machine guns would have perfectly fit their style of fighting and have been extremely beneficial. Yet, alone among the major belligerents, they seem to have made very little use of them.
[I know they actually had a few different sub-machine guns, but my quick wiki research suggests that the most widely used produced Japanese sub-machine gun was the Type 100/40 and that Japan produced only about 24-27,000 of these. Compare that to the other major belligerents of WW2--over 1 million German MP 40s, about 6 million Soviet PPSh-41s, 3.7-4.6 million British Stens, and about 2 million American Thompsons.]

Edit: I know Cato charged Caesar for war crimes in Germania, but how were these charges supported if he was suppressing the ‘barbarian’ tribes, as Rome had always done? What specifically were these war crimes referring to?

I'm aware of the Clean Wehrmacht myth, but I'm just curious if they committed more war crimes than the Allies.

This (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maat#/media/File:BD_Weighing_of_the_Heart.jpg) is hopefully a typical representation of the ceremony. My impression from this image is that the feather seems to outweigh the human heart. Therefore I wonder if it is strictly correct to talk about a balancing of the scales? Since I am not especially informed about the Egyptian book of the dead I am of course open to the possibility that I am overlooking something obvious.

As an Atheist I find it a bit difficult to think that a year/time system created from religious belief managed to spread across the world. I am not trying to cause religious arguments. I know as well the Roman Empire existed a good bit of time before and after this AD system was formed, and they weren't christian or such so where did that all pop up from?
I'm a bit confused and would appreciate an explanation on how the Anno Domini thing came about and started as the worldwide measurement of years.

I'm looking for some good recommendations about the day to day lives of slaves. The grittier the better from any historical period. Thanks!

While there's plenty online about the historicity of Jesus, I couldn't find anything that seemed unbiased about Judas Iscariot.
So, do we have sources that make it likely that he existed (such as Josephus and Tacitus for Jesus)? And do those sources conflict with the biblical story of the betrayal?

Edit: Why was the only informative comment removed? It shared valid information that was exactly what I asked for. Glad I save the link before it got deleted.
