Did they associate him with the Judeo-Christian God, and with that Noah, Abraham, Issac, and Jesus? I also had read somewhere that he was considered the, for lack of a better term, top God, but that there were other gods below him that interacted with humans and he stayed above the fray. I was a little confused on how they viewed him and interacted with him.

The Haitian revolution was a conflict between Black slaves and their white owners, which the slaves eventually won. But did the Natives of the Island play a role in the Haitian revolt? Did they side with the slaves or the colonists? Did they even get involved in the war?

I've been studying a bit on the Holocaust, and I came across a couple of interesting and seemingly contradictory points. I watched the film "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" and there's a bit that makes it seem as though concentration camps were operated for profits.
However, I'm also reading The Origins of Totalitarianism by Hannah Arendt and she states unequivocally that concentration camps were wasteful operations not motivated by profit:
Was the profit a real thing? Was it a primary motivating factor in the methods of execution (gas and cremation)?
I know this is an enormously complex question but I would also be open to suggestions for further reading or viewing.

Hey there,
I've had a interest in history for a while and I'd like to learn some more. I'd appreciate some suggestions on reading material, especially on Great War and ancient Eastern history. Thanks in advance.

Asking preferably for the British, Russian, and German armies but any major power will do!
For example one thing I wonder about is, how did officers decide it was a good time to launch a bayonet charge during the Napoleonic Wars compared to WW2?
Or How did the views by military theorists and commanders on bayonet combat differ between these 2 time periods?
Also, Did the tactical value of bayonet charges decrease by the time WW2 rolled around? Or were they still well regarded by this time as a "Hail Mary" tactic?

The Wikipedia article for Stephen, King of England shows him holding a church in one hand and some sort of rod or wand in the other.
When I looked up the monk who made the picture, I noticed that he did something similar when representing King John.
Does anyone know what it signified? Was it common?

I mean, I can get that Moscow was in its own way the 2nd capital, but still, by that point St. Petersburg had been the capital of Russia for near exactly a century.

According to my father, my German great-great uncle (my great-grandmother's brother) did some time with Hitler. He may not have been his cell mate, but (supposedly) was in the same prison as Hitler. I've tried searching the Internet via Google for information, but this kind of information is likely to be found in a book (or in the head of a historian). The last name of this relative is Willi.

Why do the historians think of the Industrial revolution as the most important since the Neolithic revolution?

If so when was Wei closest to defeat?
I recently moved to China and have recently read up on Chinese history and been watching Chinese historical dramas such as "Three Kingdoms" which got me really interested in the period.
Also, considering that Shu controlled a lot less territory than Wei and Wu how did they manage to survive so long and even go on the offensive several times?

So I'm quite confused with the ethnic groups throughout ancient Europe.
Who were the celts and where were they? France? Iberia? I've seen maps even putting them in Anatolia & the Germanic people all over northen Europe (Scandinavia, Germany, even Ukraine?!)
