After a bit of googling, I can't seem to find anything substantial about British forces on the Eastern Front. The Wiki page only mentions an expeditionary armored car force; would this be the only way the British contributed? Did the British air force or other expeditionary troops have any presence in the east?

I've gone down the rabbit hole of YouTube conspiracies and I've seen a few videos on this alleged act in our U.S. Government and they all seem to imply that the federal government only has jurisdiction of Washington D.C. and not the rest of the states.
It continues to claim that we voluntarily comply to these laws and their enforcement is unlawful outside of D.C.
I know it's a stretch and sure sounds off but, I was curious what you history buffs know about this act. Perhaps you can shed light on their misinterpretations or maybe there is some validity to these claims?

Could we argue that Christianity sprung out of the deficits of the Imperial Cult in Rome, which suggested that a man's worth was based on his military prowess? It was admirable to be cold and unemotional like Marcus Aurelius (further demonstrated in 'Hercules Furens' by Seneca).
Did the Germanicus Wars and various famines not show the need for charity and compassion? Did this demonstrate to the population that a cohesive society needed such qualities, thus attracting many followers?

I was curious about the history of the Brandenburg Conchertoes, so I looked it up and found this website. It says that the Weimar Period lasted from 1708-1717, but when looking it up, It seems to be around the time of the great depression.

This answer says that the Wehrmacht was too disorganised to be recognised as an organisation. Why was the Heer, as the land army most responsible for the atrocities, not declared criminal?

I've been into Civil War and related historical events. I've looked in the obvious places, and had a lot of fun on newspaper sites, but it seems like there could be valuable information just sitting somewhere in an attic etc. One thing that comes to mind is the archives of book, newspaper, and magazine publishers. Not just the published copies, but earlier drafts, correspondence, notes from interviews, tips, etc. It doesn't seem like there is much of this available. Does anyone have suggestions for research avenues? Has anyone had luck with a publishing company - do they keep their records that long?

reposting because I botched the title In 1834, under President Andrew Jackson, the national debt was at $4,760,082.08. The next year it was at $33,733.05. How was such a drastic amount paid off?

So been a number of questions on here about if it was true or not and how both sides used it but what about to those that became addicted, was there any support for them after the war? Were they even looked after?

A friend and I somehow came about to discussing polygamy, and why so many societies in the ancient world were polygamous. I thought that maybe the one of the reasons could be that if a large amount of the male population died prematurely from war and harsh physical labour, there could have been significantly more women than men in the society, making polygamy the optimal arrangement. But I can't find any sources on sex ratios on ancient/classical societies. Does anyone know anything about this?

I have looked through the books that are recommended in the community info. What I want to know is with all the books on history available, how can you tell what is sound information and what is widely conjecture?
Also, I am really interested in ancient Europe and Middle East prior to the fall of of the western Roman Empire. There are so many awesome pieces of period literature, but how can you tell what translations are accurate?

I'm reading "Age of Wonder" about Joseph Banks' journey on the Endeavor in 1769. It seems like there was constant consensual sex.
Anyone know if there was a sudden baby boom amongst the natives 9 months later?
I hate to make this sound salacious, but these economies and population booms by people who would quickly leave is very interesting. Especially interesting that the cultures of these explorers seem to be that they are the "civilized" ones and that they left their society's sexual rules and progeny rules back home.

Was doing some reading and came across this graph. Now assuming this chart is accurate the USSR would seem to have believed that simply possessing more nukes would give them some sort of advantage. This runs contrary to my understanding of MAD so what was the thought process of Soviet leadership then and is my assumption that they were misguided a flawed belief.

As in movie Saving Private Ryan, in final battle after Americans immobilize the german tank, Tom Hanks shoots inside the tank through the vision hole while others throw grenades inside through the top hatch (which was opened from inside). Assuming infantry could have get that close and would not have specialized antitank equipment, how easily could they kill the crew in real life and how common was that?

I feel like the USA's actions in ww1 are heavily downplayed, the USA had over 100 thousand casualties, 50,000 of which dead from battle.
That is a lot of people! So it had me wondering how many of the million or so soldiers USA sent to fight in the Great War actually fought in combat on the front lines?

Looking back at history you had lots of events where people were killed over religion, like the 30 years war. Why was it such a big deal what creed ones neighbor followed? Why was it necessary to burn heretics? I'm probably showing my post-enlightenment thinking here but it's such an alien concept to me.
