This question is not referring to the weaponry of the infantry which I understand to be a fair bit different. I am referring to the rest of the equipment such as knives and knapsacks. For the sake of focus please assume the equipment from the end of World War I.

I have known about this bible that has been in my family's possession for many years. I have done a little bit of digging and it seems to have been printed in 1694. I don't know how to read the text (I'm assuming German), but would like to know if the information I've found is correct.
There are a few pictures I've taken and a screenshot of the reference to the particular book I think this is. Anybody who could shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated!
Pictures are here: http://imgur.com/a/rRMzn
More pictures can be taken if needed, but I'm trying to handle it as little as possible since the pages are quite fragile.
Thanks!

I was just in Berlin for 6 days enjoying their fantastic public transportation system (I'm from Atlanta) and while there is a ton of information regarding how the construction of the Berlin Wall affected the city I couldn't find anything regarding the metro. I know the system was built before 1961 but I couldn't find anything regarding the system after the Wall's construction.

I've noticed a lot of academic historians (as opposed to popular history writers) seem like they consider military history to be gauche, why is this? What does this antagonism stem from?

After Cuba was successfully taken over by Castro, were any other Latin American socialist movements inspired to attempt the same thing in their home countries? How close did any f these movements get to seizing power? Did the USA change it's policy towards Latin America after the revolution?

I've heard that this is because he felt Latin culture/ people were not Aryan or lower on the superiority list than Germanic people but then wouldn't this also take out the possibility of the HRE being a reich as it was modelled and created as the 'New Roman Empire'

The Wikipedia article says it appeared in The Knickerbocker magazine in 1847, but offers little in the way of explaining it's spread throughout pop culture.

So I teach English at a German school with a high percentage of students with Turkish or Arab origin. One of them asked me today: "If I lived in the U.S. during the segregation, would I be allowed to go a school for whites?" Didn't know what to answer. Any help?

Ive read all sorts about Hitler and was wondering if I could get a bonafide historian's account on what is truth and what was propaganda.
Did Hitler really only have 1 testicle? (And did he suffer from micro-penis? Lots of articles with claims about one also feature claims about the other)
Was Hitler really a vegetarian?
Was Hitler really a drug addict?
I could see some of these things being true, but I could also see them being the propaganda of a opposing force trying to slander the opposing leader or emasculate him.
Also feel free to prove/debunk any Hitler myths I haven't specifically mentioned

My awkward theory is that when the Soviet Union crumbled, the Reaganaut Republicans took it as their tribal color, in the manner of a globe-spanning psychologically overdetermined game of Capture the Flag.

Also, how much of a distinction was there between heavy and light cavalry in the first place?

A couple thing's I've noticed that make me think this is likely:
Did the founders originally envision an America that was similar to a more closely knit EU?

I recently finished the most recent episode of Patrick Wyman's podcast: The Fall of Rome, where Syagrius is portrayed as just another powerful character in the round table of late roman and barbarian warlords fighting for control of the disintegrating western Roman Empire. Why did the Germanic tribes refer to him as King of the Romans? Did the inhabitants (or at least the aristocracy) of his Kingdom think of themselves as Romans or was their identity more fluid with the chaotic circumstances of this political structure?
Maybe I missed the mark in the podcast, which is wonderful by the way. Either way I am enthralled with this period in history and would love to know more.

I've been fairly interested in learning about the Teutonic Order recently, and from all the representations I've found, it sees that the Knights of the order always have some form of horns or other ghastly protrusions from their greathelms. I'm used to seeing crests or tassels, but I've never seen these. What are they, and why do all the Teutonic Knights have them?
