I have been searching for a picture (most probably from WWII) that shows a soldier pointing a gun at another soldier on the ground. The tricky part is if you zoom out of the picture, you'd see that the soldier wants to help up the wounded and the gun just hangs from his side accidentally pointing at him. I've seen this picture comparison as a kid trying to show the importance of photo editing and perspectives. I need it for my history project but unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help please?

From what I understand, Margaret Murray, with a paucity of archeological evidence, postulated that there was a religion, as large as if not larger than Christianity, of witches that had been suppressed and swept away by the Catholic Church.
Gerald Gardener used Murray's hypothesis as well as a charter purchased from Aleister Crowley to found Wicca, an amalgamation of various ideas. It's my understanding that Wicca received a huge boost in popularity due to acceptance of Murray's witch-cult as an English phenomenon. In the 1970s Murray's hypothesis was disproven, leading to much dejection amongst those who believed by following Wicca they were following an old English religious tradition.
Was Margaret Murray's witch-cult hypothesis ever accepted?

Was the loss do to western interference, underestimating the insurgents, unfamiliar territory, or something else?

Hello, I am looking for some sources for my homework assignment. I have tried google and my textbook says nothing about it. The question is "Show ways in which this was not a revolutionary document." (The Declaration of Independence). If someone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!

To clarify: "Asian royal houses" refer to royal houses that still exist in geographic Asia, including Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Malaysia, etc.

Hello,
I read that the roman senate at that time used a smear camapaign against Cleopatra. Is there any evidence what those rumors were? Or if its even true?

And if they did, did they look back on them with the idea of a classical civilization, in the same way the west views the roman empire and China views the han dynasty?

If I were to find myself in the Flavian Amphitheater or the Pantheon after dark, it wouldn't really bother me, but I could not say the same of being stuck in a gothic cathedral. I would lose it jumping at every shadow. As I understood it, the Gothic art movement was sort of a more Northerly European alternative to the classical and neoclassical architecture/art popular in the Med. I mean yes there were the gothic novels like Dracula and Frankenstein, and that certainly played a role in influencing the association with nightmares. But was there any other underlying cause for that link? It just kind of blows my mind that such a widely popular artistic style that had existed separately for hundreds of years prior could be totally overshadowed and redefined by the popularity of a few novels?

I want to read some primary sources from the European middle ages on magic. Good magic, evil magic, alchemy, spells. I'm especially interested in manuscripts that are like instruction manuals, teaching you how to do magic, if those exist. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I hope you are interested in primitive life as well. I wonder how would it be a day where ancient cultures that later became the first mesopotamian cities, dealt with other also human beings with even more obvious fisical features. If you could give me some documentation where I could lead would be much appreciated. Thanks

The image. The person in question is at the far left. I'm also curious if the crown and ermine signify anything, and what the text above them means.
More detail on the source the image is from.
Some of my friends suggest that they may be a depiction of Wilgefortis or perhaps the bearded lady of Limerick.

With the success of the trumped up charges against Anne's various "lovers" and Anne herself, why didn't Henry try to disown Elizabeth? If everyone was convinced Anne had been sleeping around, it should have been relatively easy to say Elizabeth wasn't his, and it would have gotten rid of a second unwanted daughter. Correct me if this is a stretch, but could Elizabeth's physical resemblance to the red haired Tudor clan in opposition to the Boleyn's and Howard's dark hair have made it difficult for anyone to believe she was anyone but Henry's child?
Thank you guys so much for your time and for all that you do here.
