Why is the Holocaust so shunned/despised so much more compared to other genocides such as the Armenian genocide, Holomodor, or the genocide of the Native Americans?

I understand the full severity of the Holocaust and understand why it's shunned, but why does it stand out to be by far the most (and to a lot of people) and basically the only genocide shunned??

Info on English Lancegays seems to be impossible to find on, are there any sources that I can be pointed towards as to how these were used? Any treatise or manuals as to how they'd be used in combat?

I see them described as 8 foot spears that were useful on horseback or on foot, but that's practically all I can find

Did blacks in America, before MLKJ and the Civil Rights movement, not have the right to sue in court?

I know that this question might seem silly, but you always hear about civil rights, and I don't recall ever hearing about rights in court. I'm sure it was different in each state, but did blacks lack access to the court system in the South?

When did tract housing and subdivisions become popular in America?

The question popped up when a friend complained about "McMansions" and praised the Historic neighborhood I live in (Irvington, Indianapolis, IN). But as I drive through my neighborhood, the architecture varies only slightly between houses, about as much as current tract housing, in which owners can pick a floorplan, materials, and additional variances. I did some research and found Levittown, NY is the most famous example of this, but my home was built in 1934, years before Levittown was built. Although I can't find another house exactly like mine, there are others very similar. Also, there are other houses that are identical from street to street. So was the practice of building numerous houses from few plans normal? Was this just an instance of wanting your house to "fit in" when it was built? Or architects giving discounts to reuse old plans? Some combination? And most interesting to me (though perhaps outside the purview of this subreddit), why do people deride current tract housing while ignoring that this has been around for some time?

Did Native Americans along the coast primarily fish fresh waters or inlets? What were some saltwater fishing techniques? Bluefish and stripers are close enough to the shore that I imagine they were caught frequently, but was something like tuna just off the menu?

Should say "fresh waters and inlets..."

As Francisco Franco's successor, what were the reasons that Juan Carlos I chose to move Spain down the path of democratic reform, instead of continuing authoritarian Francoist policies?

In restoring Juan Carlos I to the monarchy instead of his father Juan de Borbon, Franco must have had some reason to believe that Juan Carlos would continue his legacy. Why did that not end up being the case?

According to Wikipedia, the Transcontinental Railroad cost about $100,000,000 ($2,000,000,000 today.) What was the fight over this bill like in 1862, considering the cost of war also had to be taken into account?

I'm sure the project was incrementally funded, but what were the upfront costs?

I know the South opposed it and the bill wasn't pushed through until after secession, but were there dissenting Union states? What about the border states?

How were Hungarian and Transylvanian Protestants treated by the Ottomans in comparison to their treatment by the Holy Roman Empire (1590 - 1630)

During the reign of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II the Ottomans waged a campaign in Hungary from 1593 till 1606. During this war when Rudolph II gained control of Protestant towns he confiscated property and converted Protestant churches to Catholic churches.

Were similar acts of religious intolerence occuring in the Protestant territories conquered by the Ottoman Empire? Were the Protestants of Ottoman-occupied Hungary and Transylvania offered more/less religious freedom than those in the HRE?

Why is *niche* history important?

I'm interested in the humanities, but one thing I always have "justifying" to my friends and strangers is niche history, like 17th-century American toy history or medieval peasantry dress, especially when there are scholars who dedicate their entire lives to this. Granted, it's interesting, but what is its purpose and importance?
