This has been bugging me for a long time.

What effect did dropping the two atomic bombs on Japan have on the mental health of the people on the Enola Gay?

Just wondering as it seemed very interesting, and I thought it'd be cool to look at the real world equivalent(s) if there are any. Thanks in advance!

Specifically, did monarchs answer to the Church, or did they largely have control over what happened within their own borders?

Here's a link to English translations of found graffiti. Among the odes to love, teases and taunts are lots of references to having a good shit. Why was that common?

I was looking through the AskHistorians book list, and found a lot of great reads on the early Islamic and Christian churches. However I realised that I really didn't have a comprehensive understanding of these religions mythologies.
I wanted to know what versions of these text are typically used by English speaking historians. Additionally, texts with commentary by leading experts in the field would be welcome.

Hello historians of Reddit, I know this isn't the right subreddit to ask this question but how did you guys start with learning history? The reason I ask this is because I have this one teacher who knows everything about history and he made me really interested about history and know I want to read everything about history but I don't know how to start.

Luke 2:
1 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to their own towns to be registered. 4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child.

I would like to know what the actual evidence says about this claim. From a logistics perspective, it seems like many problems would arise if such a census actually took place (millions of people moving to different locations, economic implications, etc.)

I unfortunately may have just dreamed up the instance, but a legion fought a battle against (I think) the Celts, who orchestrated a mass human sacrifice in the guise of a battle. Was this a real event, or something fabricated by an ancient source, or just my brain being dumb?

Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good books which deal with the Viet Cong's use of the environment and how this shaped US strategy in the Vietnam war? Thanks!

Ideally, I am searching for an academic (or one that adheres to academic standards) that uses both French, Russian or even other sources (after all, it was a multi-"national" campaign).
Is there a "definitive" book/series out there on Napoleon's Invasion of Russia that covers both sides? Or maybe one for each side?
Particularly I am interested in data for all sides. (Yeah, I know the infographic on the losses/size of the Grand Army, but I am more into raw data itself. Also, as far as I know that data maybe dated.)
Secondary Question: When was the "last time" there was a "major revision" on the campaign by historians that made previous works "outdated"? (Like Zimm on Pearl Harbor, Parshall & Tully on Midway, etc.)
Languages: English or German.

In the UK for the past 100+ years or so there have been the familiar military ranks of Major, Colonel, Lieutenant etc.
I was wondering if there was a crossover period when both these more 'recent' ranks and the rank of "Knight" co-existed contemporaneously within the same official military hierarchy? (together)
Not just as ceremonial or honorary titles.
i.e Whereby both "Colonel" and "Knight" would each figure as their own discreet rank or step within a contiguously linear "Hierarchy"? (One rank above the other)

Very thought provoking question for me but google searches haven't taken me far. I would greatly appreciate any pointers and thoughts
What I have so far from my understanding of the question:
#blacklivesmatter - clearly promotes black power through protests, twitter, and other forms of social media
Beyoncé - promotes black lives though performances, songs, videos
Kendrick Lamar - advocates awareness through performances, songs, videos
United Nations Working Group of Experts On People of African Descent - created The International Decade for People of African Descent to

Did the lyrics of Carolux Rex accurately describe King Charles XII like did he really waited for 15 years to sit upon his throne, what was his relation with the Church in Sweden and did he really made them say his name when they pray?
