Mostly captured in more "secretive" areas of operation such as Laos. Also, what do you think of the possibility that there could be more modern day prisoners of war in captivity that have been covered up, CIA assets for example?

It's obviously not out of love for Britain, so am I missing something important? Did it obstruct the power of Quebec as a province in some way? Did it somehow weaken the sovereignty movement?

At it's peak, the CNT had hundreds of thousands of active members. No other anarchist group in the world could draw numbers like that.
Why did anarchism catch on with Spaniards when it didn't with Russians, English, Germans, etc?

Is there any evidence of say a Cree or Mohawk personally meeting with some of other famous peoples of NA or SA? We give so much attention to other cultures, as well as their explorers and diplomats. I can only hope that 10000 years of development in the Americas allowed there to be a few very well travelled individuals. I'm imagining an Iroquois touring a Mayan temple, which is probably unlikely but pretty fun to imagine.
EDIT: pre-euro contact.

I have been fascinated with WWII my entire life, and especially the fighters. I have been wondering if there was any special reasons that the Tuskegee Airmen painted the tails of their Mustang's red.

So what I'm really wondering is, was there something similar to air traffic control? Would they have someone row out and assign them a dock? Or would the ship just coast into whatever one was open? Or some other option?

I read about it in this article and the author describes how they took advantage of their dysentery by doing this edit: https://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/time-english-soldiers-went-battle-without-pants-won.html
But it made me wonder if this was a common tactic to use at the time?

Few hours ago, a person asked for help with identifying 5 people from a lithography and it made me quite curious about names of all the people depicted in the lithography.
The person originally posted this link. I have managed to dig up some slightly larger ones. link link
I have also identified the lithography as Muževi ilirske dobe (1835. – 1850.). It depicts prominent members of Hrvatski narodni preporod movement, roughly translated as Croatian National Revival.
Through Google and other sources, I have managed to identify quite a few people on the list though I am not completely sure about some of them. link
I am very interested to know who other people on the list are and if my own list is accurate. I know that this is a very specific question so any help would be greatly appreciated.

For reference let's just pretend it's this armor specifically
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plate_armour#/media/File:Italian_-Sallet-_Walters_51580.jpg
I ask this question because I was watching
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkDDBL7jNew
Which as a summary is a bunch of people today getting in actual armor with actual swords and just beating the shit out of each other.
But I noticed that even if those weapons were sharp I can't see how they would do any damage at all. If I'm hitting my opponent with a giant sword and he's wearing plate we just might as well be hitting against a rock for all the real damage I feel like it would do. So how do I kill him?

So the other day my uncle was telling me this theory about how back in the colonial/early america days men at the age of 18 and up were forced to own a gun and participate in their local militia and do drilling and all that and were fined if they did not own a gun. He then told there are some who think that because of this they made the part of the 2nd amendment making it a right to bear arms was actually intended to not FORCE people to own guns and actually served more as a right NOT to bear arms (as in have the choice rather than be forced) . I have been trying to do a bit of googling but haven't really found anything about this theory online and am not really sure what to type in my searches.
Has anyone else heard of this or have any thoughts on it?

If I wanted to do good research (probably about undergrad level) on the American Revolution, what resources would you recommend to me? Have read everything by Joseph Ellis and Chernow as well as some primary sources.

Am reading John Kelly's The Great Mortality about the plague, which is repeating a characterization I've heard elsewhere: that cities like Genoa, Venice and Florence were exceptionally wealthy, sophisticated, stylish - and generally advanced, it seems. Were they in fact categorically different from other European cities at the time?

I don't know if this is true or not, but it's what has been said on my mother's side of the family. My great grandparents left Finland following the Winter War and this is supposedly why we no longer have many relatives left in Finland. Despite some searches now and then I've never been able to find a source.

I know the STG-44 still crops up from time to time in modern conflicts (a warehouse full of them was found, and Privi Partisan still make 7.92x33 rounds to feed them!)
but what else survived the war? Where else did their weapons and vehicles end up?

Is "kingdom" an accurate word to describe the government structure of these areas? Were they unified central governments like the Tarascan empire?
It seems to gloss over Maya territories, but it's the areas west of the Aztecs that I'm interested in.
The borders also seem to coincide with this other map (Warning: it's an .svg file that's WAY bigger than it needs to be -- you'll have to zoom in). I couldn't find an information source for either.

I understand that Standard American English is rather recent, as there are many "American accents," but every time I listen to old US radio broadcasts, I just notice that these radio broadcasters are clearly American but still sound quite different.

I really feel lost in time, and i am pretty sure am not the only one... But everything seems to good to be true.
I'll start with the quote: "The 60's are gone, dope will never be as cheap, sex never as free and the Rock 'n' Roll never as great."
All the pictures, videos, music and testemonials left behind show kind of unimaginable era, which lasted for 5 years and happened only around 50 years ago. In those 5 years, the youth stopped the war, got together, experimented drugs, alcohol etc. They were, in my eyes, able to experience the free spirit and life of free will. Maybe i look to much from one side or perspective, but was really that good for young people let's say in California?
Is there any good book on subject or documentary? Thanks.
