Was he left out of history books for racial reasons? Why is he not an early African American hero?

Whose idea was it? Was there resistance to the idea from the royal family themselves, or traditionalists outside of the family? Was anti-German feeling in Britain really strong enough to force the Head of State to change his name?

I understand that after the Marian reforms that training and arms were standardized for soldiers but before that each soldier had to supply his own arms. The thing is, since the requirements to be a soldier were high for an average person, how much of an army would composed of lightly armored and ill equipped versus the richer and well equipped principes or triarii? Would the generals try to balance the ratios of poor to rich soldiers or did the poorer soldiers compose the wide majority of an army?

As an extension question, how common was cavalry in pre-Marian Roman armies? Equites came from the higher classes and I can't think of horses being cheap so around how many of these men would actually be in a large army?

From what i read almost everyone says Russia is the only reason Nazi Germany was defeated when in fact the entire war the United States was giving them lean-lease and would have been defeated if not for all the material the united states had given them.

Years ago I heard a recorded lecture by China Mievielle called "Marxism and Monsters". In it he describes the influences of historical politics on horror authors (Romero and his zombies etc.). He does mention HP Lovecraft and that his descriptions of various horror matches closely with some descriptions of contemporaries of racial minorities in the US. How strongly was HP Lovecraft influenced by the politics of his time?

Did the Romans and other societies have advances in medical procedures? We're they able to battle things such as infection effectively? Were they aware of things such as antibiotics and antiseptic properties? Was their understanding of anatomy proficient? Or were they mainly implementing homeopathic and herbal remedies and narcotics.

Curious to know if they discovered such things that were lost with the fall of Rome and the golden age of Arabic regions; lost within the dark and middle ages and only to be rediscovered centuries later?

And if it was historically always worse for blacks than other minority groups, why was that?

What stopped other minorities from being regularly lynched?

I'm writing a story in which the main characters are members of a tank crew for a fictional nation that is heavily based on Germany during WWII (sans the whole nazi thing.) The war is going slowly at the moment, so how would a tank crew in the real world keep themselves entertained during the slow moments?

I was aware that the Soviets were a brutal occupying force. However, I was having a discussion with a friend about Afghanistan, and he argued that in enforcing atheist policies and purging numerous figures involved in what he described as a "rich culture and tradition", the Soviets left us with the barbaric tribalism that exists there today.

How accurate are these claims from a historical perspective? How did the Soviets enforce these policies?
