Oceans are very large, so I'm wondering if the average vessel actually had much to worry about and therefore whether such campaigns were more about inciting fear than actual obstruction of trade?

American slaves were around tobacco all day and I'm wondering if they smoked it. I don't think I've ever seen a depiction of a slave smoking. Would slaveowners allow this or would they see it as a waste of money?

Also, what about hemp? I'm sure in the hundreds of years that slavery existed and when hemp was widely grown that they might smoke it. Or is this not the case?

Hi guys, as part of my Dissertation research I'm looking into aspects of collective and individual memory in the way the pacific war is presented in contemporary Japan. Specifically, I am looking at the way the tokko-tai/Kamikaze are presented.

If anyone has any experience, or even better, photographs of any of the exhibits in Yushukan, Chiran etc, and would be willing to answer a few of my questions, I would be immensely thankful.
