Why didn't U.S. allies in 1971 try to block PRC China from being on the U.N. security counsel instead of ROC (Taiwan)

Looking at the map, a lot of U.S. allies voted in favor of mainland China taking over: Map of the vote: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ce/Voting_res_2758.png wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_and_the_United_Nations

Did the ancient Greeks/Romans believe their myths were literally true?

I'm not asking if they believed the Gods were real. I know they thought the Gods were real. I'm asking did they believe stories like the Iliad, Odyssey, or Aeneid to be literally true accounts of history? Similar to how some Christians believe the Bible to be an accurate account of history.

During the Age of Sail; was the Admiral only one person who controlled the entire navy of a country? Was the rank of Admiral basically the "president" of a country's navy? How did the rank of Admiral work?

Also Vice Admiral; As I compared Admiral to a president (asking if an Admiral is basically like a president; only one person in control), would the Vice Admiral be a similar thing? Like, you know how there's a President and a Vice President in control of an entire country? Would an Admiral and a Vice Admiral work the same way, as in having complete control of a country's navy?

Question about Padraig Pearse and the Irish volunteers.

In the TV show 'Rebellion', Pearse is seen telling a female character that all the cuman na mban soldiers ( the female Irish volunteers) where to report to the kitchen or medical rooms. When the character asked did Pearse not see women as his equals, Pearse replied "We consider them purer than ourselves" and therefore he couldn't allow them to come to harm. Were these thoughts typical of Pearse and the volunteer's leadership?

Why do U.S. presidents need to be born on U.S. soil?

I'm just wondering why this part was added to the constitution. One of my coworkers brought it up and he thinks it's because Jefferson put it so Hamilton wouldn't be able to run for president as opposed to other early presidents like Washington or Adams who were born on would-be U.S soil like Virginia or Massachusetts respectively. Is there any merit to this?

Did ancient Jewish people always believe that their God was the only one that existed?

I know there is some evidence in the early books of the bible that the ancient Jews only worshipped their patron deity, Yahweh, but believed that there were many other gods. The best known example would be the commandment "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

So basically I'm wondering when the concept arose in Judaism of there only being one God, and what evidence we have of it (especially any sources outside of bible). Thanks!

WWI Trenches

Does that mean someone could literally step into a trench in Messines and walk in it all the way to Switzerland? How could that entire span be manned and managed?

I once asked my history teacher if there were such things as "Ethnic Austrians" and he answered affirmatively. Was there ever a time where the Austrian ethnic identity was separate from the German ethnic identity, or was my teacher incorrect?

(The teacher taught in Middle School, this was a few years ago of course, but the answer he gave always confused me after learning more about the history of Austria.)
