Hey, so maybe this is a silly question, but I've just started wondering this. I've been interested in the Proto-Indo-Europeans for a while, and I realized a bit of information that was missing from me:

Who did they come from?

I mean, I doubt we'd know this, since anything we know about these people is tentative as it is. So perhaps it's silly to ask.

But in any case, it's worth a shot. I guess an alternative way of phrasing this would be, "Who did the Proto-Indo-Europeans split off from?" Or "Who are the Proto-Indo-Europeans' closest non P.I.E. relatives?"

Either way, any sort of answer would be great- even if that answer is "nobody knows".

I have heard this story a few times before.

A barbarian army runs up and slits their own throats in an attempt to scare the enemy - This could alternatively have been something that they made their prisoners do.

I'd like to know if this 'story' is true and which historical military faction did this if so.

Next week I'm going to visit the Tate Britain in London, where there are a lot of pre-raphaelites paintings, so I want to read some good info about its art before going there. I'm above all interested in its magic aspects. Thanks everyone.
