Did Shakespeare spend half his work day in the pub scribbling the corner, did he spend time working in an office at the theater, did he have friends he spent time working with?

I've noticed that, in all my reading, Marc Antony is almost universally painted as one of the bad guys of the late Roman Republic. From the books I've read right down to HBO's Rome, he is never painted in a positive light. Instead, he is depicted as an arrogant drunkard who fell under the charms of an Eastern queen, forsook his "Romanness," and made a bad mistake letting himself be trapped at Actium. But there must have been more to the man than simply trying to become Dionysus incarnate.

Are there any good books, or other media, that tell Antony's side of the story? I don't know if it's based on fact or on propaganda, but I've bought into the anti-Antony story hook, line, and sinker, and am hoping a fuller picture will give me a different perspective on the time period.

I was wondering if we knew when the Colosseum held games for the final time. And when that happened, was it some sort of spectacle? Did the citizenry know that it would never be used as designed again? Who made the decision to stop and why?

(I know some popes and other notables have tried to find other uses for the building, such as a wool factory, but those purposes aren't what I'm interested in.)

I LOVE "The Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer. I wanted to know more about the critical response, and how the public reacted to the book at the time. It seemed like it would be a bit controversial, considering the raunchy nature of the book (especially The Miller's Tale). However, all I can find are modern responses to the book.

I have always thought it fascinating how two civilizations oceans away developed essentially the same simple machine without contact between each other. So, my question to you is, how would a bow from the Americas compare to a European bow before contact (not counting the vikings, of course). Let's say ~100 years or so before hand. Would one of them have been made better, or were they rather similar? How would they vary in design? etc.

When looking at European heraldry in the 12th century we can quite clearly see different designs including items like crosses or animals like lions. However recently I've been looking into making an Arabic shield but I am struggling to find any designs that could have made their way onto shields.

I've been looking at some of the major dynasties and their heraldry seems to be a single colour flag e.g. green for the Fatimids and black for the Abbasids. The crescent moon seems to be the only heraldic element that I can see reappearing frequently so a simple shield design I was thinking of was a white half moon on a green field. How accurate would this have been at the time of the crusades throughout the Islamic world?

Any ideas and pointers would be very appreciated here.
