It seems like Nubia and Kush sometimes get used interchangeably. It also seems like Ethiopia is just an ancient word for Africa south of Egypt... ? Is Nubia also a broad term or does it mean something specific? Is Meroe totally distinct or does it fall under some of the other words? I don't understand. Please assume I know nothing to help me untangle this.

I have often heard that in World War Two the different nations varied greatly in strength. Some people I have heard have gone so far as to say a Soviet Tank Army is equal to a Panzer Division but I feel like this may be exaggerated. So I was wondering how would different nations infantry and tank divisions compare across different fronts.

Preferably keeping the bias which is so often present when talking about Jerusalem/Israel/Palestine to a minimum.

I heard that 'propheteering' was rather common in the Middle Eastern areas during those times but most didn't inspire a religion that would become as widespread as Christianity or Islam.

Having become especially interested in the diplomacy of the Greek city states in this period I was wondering if states such as Athens or Sparta ever seriously considered diplomatic union or [presumably in the latters case] military conquest of Greece proper, united as single country?
A few additional questions I would love to know an answer to is why did the city states stay as seperate entities [with the exception of the leagues of alliances] until they were conquered or otherwise subjugated? Did their people ever feel a true sense of commonality or shared interests? Were any of the military leagues - such as the Aetolian League or Achaean League - anything more than alliances; was any integration of society conducted or were the development and economics of the member cities strictly separate from any military co-operation they exhibited?
Thank you in advance for any responses.

I had just gotten to thinking about what marked the beggining of Anno Domini (AD). BC means before Christ but now that historians prefer to use BCE (before the common era) it made me curious.
Thanks for any answers or visibility upvotes

If so, how does this affect the historiography of China/East Asia? Did East Asian historians, like their western counterparts, cite the works of their predecessors from a previous era? Are there eras which are particularly under-represented? Was there a system of preservation similar to western monasteries c. 400-1400?

I have searched high and low simply cannot find any English translation of "Lettres et documents pour servir à l'histoire de Joachim Murat, 1767-1815" by Paul Le Brethon which was published in 1908. I would be beyond thrilled if I could somehow be able to feast my eyes on this work. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you all

I can't really fathom just how destructive and violent a species we are. As far as my memory and education have shown me, there has never really been a prolonged time where humans weren't involved in some kind of war. Can anyone enlighten me?

There is a common meme that the German military commanders were uniformly geniuses, who would have won the war if it weren't for that meddling Austrian. I read somewhere that this idea was mainly introduced in the memoirs of those generals, who were not entirely free of bias.
Do third-party sources back up the idea that Hitler's meddling was principally negative, or was he just a convenient scapegoat to make the survivors look better?

So I have a limited amount of space to work with, and I've mapped out a prototype to recreate a 15th century European market town. It will take time to make it, so I wanted to get opinions first on the layout.
To the right of the layout is where the castle would be, and the docks/water. To the left is a pathway to lead to other towns. As much as I wanted a bigger area to work with, and to group up like businesses together, I have a limited space. I did make sure to include a church, market house, and inn, though. I could probably put a well in the churchyard.
Is there anything vital I'm missing? Any suggestions?
Edit: Fixed a grammatical error.
EditEdit: It should read "market house" on the map, not "market hall."

I mean the Roman Empire was massive, so I can't imagine that a regular person outside of the Italian peninsula would even know anything had changed for weeks or months, right?
And on top of that, how did the lives of the average person in the WRE and ERE change when they (respectively) dissolved?

It seems that alchohal has been a staple of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Is there a specific reason why the native Americans didn't seem to have it?

I have to write about how the early Church fathers theological views differed and how it originated from the different christologies found in the synoptic gospels and gospel of John. Please provide me references or articles I can access on JSTOR.
