Alchemy seems like a precursor to Chemistry. Did alchemy inspire the scientific method?

Take us through the evolution of rome one millinea at a time! Specifically, i am curious about roman society, technology, and the military.

It is taught that Hitler made Napoleon's mistake of trying to invade Russia and getting caught by winter. How many others have tried (I just read in another sub the Ottoman Empire did this too)? Why does it seem no one learned from previous mistakes?

What things about those cultures can we learn from this literature even though it is fiction?

From what I understand, sacrifice and bloodletting were required to keep the sun "on it's daily path". I imagine it didn't happen every day, but I truthfully have no idea.

In movies that show the Pacific and Eastern Fronts such as Enemy at the Gates and Letters from Iwo Jima the Japanese and Russian forces are always doing mass infantry assaults and losing absurd amounts of men.

Is this really what they did?

And in the case of the Japanese why would they do this if taking to ground and defending fortified positions were much more effective against the US?

Have there been women who started art genras, which have been taken over by men, in a sense? Who would be seen as the female Raphael? I'm wondering in a way, whom in the history of art were pinoeers and really great and experts in their field, but overshadowed by their male counterparts? I'm doing a study on female representation in art and I'd love some examples, facts, sources etc. of how women were viewed, whom that were central at their time, and the like. If it's easier, one can limit the view to Europe, maybe. Thank you!

Why our schools teach us that we descend from them with all the Romans & Goths that we got after them? Do we really?

I get that we share Hill Forts and Bagpipes but... hill forts were found also in Africa and even near India.

I am mostly interested in how much freedom they had in starting their own households, as well as acquiring and managing small (clothing, books, personal items) and medium (horses, automobiles) amounts of money, while living with their family.

I was reading some news articles and this thought just dawned on me. How do these two countries have such huge borders? I know how US did it, and Canada and Australia, but not Russia and China.

Could someone elaborate a bit on this. How relevant were these extra supplies? Was the Red Cross the only source of outside aid? ect...

So I know there are about a million books out there but I'm looking for one that describes it in a detailed way. Someone that encompasses the entire war and isn't a story about one person. I would love to know about battles and why they were important and some of the brilliance that happened during them. Also if it could help explain why certain battles were necessary or why certain places were vital that would be awesome as well.

I've been looking around but am having trouble finding something that fits all those requirements. Figured you guys know loads of history and might have stumbled across a book like this.
