I feel like the answer is obvious but it's eluding me.

Some light reading (i.e., wikipedia) has given me the impression that the spiritual beliefs of the Sami have little in common with the polytheistic beliefs of the pre-Christian Scandinavian people (specifically the ones occupying what are now Sweden and Norway). Yet the Sami have coexisted with those people(s) for a really long time. Have their religious/spiritual beliefs evolved in any kind of dialectic, and if so, how have they influenced each other?

I deal in robotics and automation and I constantly question whether or not it's right for mankind to keep advancing technology at this rate and in our current direction. I then remembered that throughout history there have arisen religious/folk tales of man being punished or suffering due to advancing knowledge, sharing intelligence, and creating new technology.

Be it the tale of Adam and Eve, Prometheus, John Henry, or even the upcoming Age of Ultron movie it seems that there's been a sort of fear/shame complex in many cultures in inventing and furthering science.

Does anyone know of any similar tales? Were there any cases in history where people actually tried to go backwards? I'm curious to see if this persisted through different cultures in different time periods.

I would like a couple of titles of true works of chivalry and Knights exploits. Using these titles for a project on a comparison between true works of chivalry and satirical works of chivalry.

I don't know much about it, but I've heard about how Europe, Asia and the Middle East have all been ruled by one person at one point. I figure Northern Africa has been captured at least at one point and Southern Africa due to the trade routes. But up until the slave trade was Western, Central or Eastern Africa ever ruled by one person? If so could you tell if they came from another continent or were from African. Also how did those peoples ways of living change after that? Did they continue on as usual or were they introduced to new customs and technology?

Or war, for that matter.

I realize they had already begun attacking American assets in the Phillipines, but suppose they had held off against the Americans entirely, and focused on the British, would the Imperial forces stood a better chance against the British particularly considering their key need to seize sufficient oil production?

I've heard grisly tales of the Belgian colonists chopping off the hands of African workers and everybody heard of the harsh treatment of South africans by the British, but how were africans treated in the German colonies from 1884-1918?
