Is this just a 9/11 thing?
Before then the only "crazy" thing I remember was the fatwa on Salman Rushdie.

After reading about the Assyrian Church of the East, which seemed to be some kind of Persian backed split of Christianity, is the Assyrian national identity still around or is the name just a holdover from what the region was called? Or is the Assyrian national identity now just Syrian? What are the differences between the two if any?

Has there ever been something like a definitive investigation into the conspiracy charges surrounding the death of Martin Luther King, Jr? I've read that the trail in question was mostly for show, and that the defense hardly put up a struggle, essentially making the verdict a foregone conclusion (and hence of little factual value). But has there ever been a serious, systematic refutation of the claims made by the King family? Do serious scholars on the subject take these claims seriously and merely find the available information too inconclusive to get behind such a serious charge, or is there reason to doubt them?
EDIT: For the record, here's attorney and King associate William Pepper giving a lecture on the subject. Pepper was the attorney for the civil trial. I guess it's summarized in his books Orders to Kill: The Truth Behind the Murder of Martin Luther King Jr (1995) and An Act Of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King (2003)
The results of the Justice Department internal investigation can be found here

During the German invasion of France and Low Countries (1940) WWII, Why didn't Hitler attack the retiring English and Belgian forces at Dunkerque? It seems to me he could have achieved an easy decisive victory which could have changed the course of the war dramatically.

I should further explain my question. I am currently reading the diary/ jourmal of William Dampier.
"William Dampier (baptised 5 September 1651 – March 1715) was the first Englishman to explore parts of what is today Australia, and the first person to circumnavigate the world three times. He has also been described as Australia's first natural historian, as well as one of the most important British explorers of the period between Sir Walter Raleigh and James Cook." -wikipedia
As we have this topic in my history-seminar I like (and kind of have to) get new information on my own. Since all this is written in english i have a hard time getting new media.
I hope this isnt to bold to ask you if you know anything about it.
If you have questions feel free to message me or leave a comment.

I was having a (not so) quick wikipedia session when I came accross what seemed to be a pretty bold claim. Toyota Landcruiser pickups didn't detonate Anti-Vehicle mines when driven over 100km/h.

The sourcing in the article ends at a Time website pay-wall leading me to be a dubious as to the validity here. Anyone know if this seems likely or is even remotely possible?

I understand the idea the French people might be attracted through the company of pastors, through "revelation" and knowledge that they are in a sense being deceived by the Catholic church through idols and lies from the clergy, but was there much else? I understand coastal towns like la Rochelle would attract individuals to the reformed church as trading was vastly improved under Calvinism as people could trade with foreign, non Christians as well as the ability to work when Catholics could not i.e. festivals etc. etc. Similarly less strains financially from the Catholic church. Any added info would be much appreciated.

Hello there, first time poster here. How were chariots supposed to be used effectively in ancient times, such as in ancient Egypt, Babylon, Canaan, etc.? It seems like such a huge target for skirmishers to shoot and spearmen to take a whack at. Additionally, horses generally don't charge at walls, and it seems like they'd be even less inclined to pull a heavily laden cart towards a screaming morass of armed men. Such a large item, pulled by two horses and with a lot of moving parts, also seems like it would make chariot-archery a supremely difficult enterprise.
