What about Italy, Japan, USSR, France, & Germany?
Did they use paratroopers and if so, what operations in what stage of the war did they use paratroopers?
What other countries used paratroopers and what operations did they perform?

I'm just curious. I've seen footage several times of people scribbling things on the bombs with a marker before they put them in the airplanes. I keep trying to google it but I'm having no success. When I try to find what was written on the bombs, I get writing about the bombs, but not the writing physically on them.

Yes Canada did fight in the War of 1812 but only because the Americans invaded. Otherwise they were kept out. Essentially why didnt Britain try to recruit Canadians to fight overseas for their wars in the 19th century?
The same question could be applied to other colonies at the time (I am not familiar with their history as I am with Canadian history).

The only history I've actually learned some knowledge about is American history, so I'm trying to learn more about other parts of the world and Prussia really interests me so I want to learn more about that.
Some follow up questions I'd like to get answered would be: What allies did Prussia and Hungary have during this war? Were there any note worthy events that really stand out? What kind of outcome did the war have, and how did this effect history as a whole?

In middle school, I picked up "The Martial Arts Encyclopedia" by a "Winderbaum" in a Library discard pile. I've been endlessly fascinated with the various swords, staffs, knifes, and other weapons.
Flipping to this page, something catches my attention. Item "N" is what the book refers to as a "Tsow," and to me it's such a novel idea for a weapon. The book gives it this unsatisfactorily short description.
It's such a novel idea for a weapon and, in my opinion, would lend itself greatly to any fictional universe! And that's what I'd like to do! But I can't find any information about it otherwise.
Was this weapon useful? Was it one handed? Was it used in battle? What martial art is it used in? If it were a one handed weapon, It might lend itself nicely to various martial arts in the Philippines (Kali, Escrima)
Is this thing even real? Google thinks I'm misspelling the thing and won't give me anything. I'd love to know the history of this thing, if it has one!
Perhaps this book is just fucking with me, I dunno. Help me out here guys, it's been sitting on my mind for about 12 years.

My knowledge of the subject is a bit fuzzy, but to be specific, I'm mainly curious about the time of the Byzantine Iconoclasms. Did Muslims see ties between the rules against depictions of their Prophet and Iconoclast beliefs?

I was thinking of something like using poisons or something more creative like quickly having every soldier dig small holes into the ground which would trip approaching cavalry.
In movies like Last Samurai, we get a good example of the kind of ingenuity I am talking about.

Recently, I have read in one history textbook that due to the lost independence of Poland in the late 18th century, Polish nationalists in the 19th century had portrayed the country as a "Jesus Christ" of European nations. These nationalists supposedly explained that Poland would become independent (compared to the resurrection of Jesus Christ) and would follow a new path in history after is independence.
Are any sources, specifically from Polish nationalists, that support this claim? I have not been able to find any sources online. I am curious after reading about this section. Thanks in advance.

I mention those 2 instances as they seem to be the most prominent in the popular culture I'm exposed to, but I would assume it's happened in plenty of other times and places.
So if you were an eligible candidate in (insert war/country of choice), how likely were you to be drafted?
I checked the FAQ and didn't see anything similar based on some keyword searches of the page.

I'm watching PBS's "Secrets of" miniseries, which says that executioners at the time were trained in hanging, not beheading, and gave the example of Margaret Poore's execution, where it took ten tries for her to be successfully beheaded. According to the documentary, Henry VIII brought in a specially trained executioner from France for Anne Boleyn's execution; why? If protocol at the time was hanging, why break tradition and go to the trouble of bringing in a foreign executioner?

I'm reading Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and I can't wrap my head around how Hitler was able to get so many Nazi members elected to congress. What were they promising the people of Germany other than making Germany strong and the arian race pure?

From what I read about him, Pope Pius X hated modernism because he wanted to restore the traditional Catholic church. So my question, if anyone can help me, is did he hate science, or did he think it could create a better world? Science is loosely tied to modernism, which is why I'm wondering whether or not he approved of it.
Thanks in advance!
