I am writing an essay upon the legality of the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki in 2011 by Drone strike in Yemen. I am addressing the legal precedent both in Constitutional Law and International Law, however the essay requires a multidisciplinary element, therefore I need another discipline so am considering a historical perspective. However due to the recent nature of the events I am interested as to whether the is a historical precedent, for example the Civil War and how I can relate that to the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki. I am open to suggestions of other disciplines to address in relation to the question, such as morality/philosophy etc. Thanks in advance.

Nowadays it is common for militaries to think about past experiences when planning. For example, the Soviet army would study their military history in WW2 in planning during the Cold War, while the US studied German experiences. But when is the first recorded instance of history factored into planning? What past battles were studied, and what was concluded about them?

I see conservatives blame slavery on democrats and liberals. Is this true?

The pictures are like long exposures of manufacturing processes that show the best way to do the job. I cannot recall the name of these types of pictures, but I remember learning that a photographer had put lights on the hands of workers to identify the most efficient movements to complete a process. I also remember the whole idea being revolutionary to industry but I can't seem to find any pictures no matter how I frame my search on google. The reason I ask is that I recently acquired two of these pictures and I am wondering about the history tied to them. I know they came from DuPont and are probably from the 40s or 50s. Any idea of what they are called or where to find something to compare?

Japan is basically the only country outside of Europe where ski jumping has been popular for decades. What are the reasons for this?

First of all, please apologize for any mistakes that I made, English is not my first language.
I have always wondered how wars worked back then, particularly how they started and ended. I know that in medieval and modern times diplomats were assigned to deliver declarations of war, but how did the Romans and the Germanic tribes manage to do that?

What were the arts like?
Did class lines become rigid and unchanging?
What were foreign relations like?
How did ethnic identity change?
Did religion/spirituality undergo any changes?
Did the standard of living of your average peasant change? (less war, happier lives?)

Previous weeks' Tuesday Trivias and the complete upcoming schedule.
Today’s trivia theme comes to us from /u/henry_fords_ghost!
Today isn’t one of the usual more whimsical themes, but instead a general space for talking about one of academic history’s emerging fields - disability studies. So feel free to talk about:
Next Week on Tuesday Trivia: Interesting dedications from one person to another person or perhaps something more abstract, for things like books, musical works, statues, paintings, plays, poems, etc.

For example, would people in England in 1800 have known what the Mona Lisa looked like?
