After the fall of the Ottoman, the Middle East was divided in several territories which fell into the influence sphere of France and Britain.
The borders of those countries were drawn with very little attention for the several tribes and different types of religion. Also they formed a policy of "divide and rule" by giving minorities power in order for their loyalty.
The results of this, we can see everyday for years and years. Sectarian and religious conflicts by the heap.
So, were there any other plans for the partition?

Title. Tried looking up some resources but most appear to be biased or propaganda based. I would really like to know the facts and motivations behind the conflict. Thanks.

Previous weeks' Tuesday Trivias and the complete upcoming schedule.
Happy Family History Month! Tell us something cool from your family history! Grandpa’s war stories, Grandma’s secret recipes, mysterious inscriptions in Family Bibles, are you related to Catherine the Great? Our no-anecdotes rule flies out the window for this very special occasion. All your family lore is cool today! Old-timey pictures of your relatives are especially welcome.
Stories of successes and struggles in genealogical research are also highly encouraged, hopefully we’ll be able to get a critical mass of expert genealogists in here and solve everyone’s archival problems.
Next week on Tuesday Trivia: The theme is history that never happened - get ready to share any famous historical events that nevertheless didn't actually exist.

Spent last week on the island for a business trip and finally got out of San Juan on Saturday. Left me quite curious about the state of their economy and such.

I am curious about how the Japanese navy trained new recruits and if the training they received was somehow inferior to that of US Navy recruits.

Can anyone here suggest a plausible scenario that would have allowed a native nation to survive until modern times?
Bonus points: what about North and South American civilizations?

I live in India where swastikas are legit religious symbols. How did they go from those to symbols of violence against humanity?

Euclid comes up a lot in my maths class so it made me wonder. Modern academics make money from book sales and teaching at universities, but Ancient Greece didn't have book publishers or universities.

This mostly applies to the Western empire, but it would be nice to hear about the process by which the Eastern legions were phased out. Mostly, though, I'm curious as to what we know about their final days. Did they just sort of peter out, settling down and joining the local population when they stopped getting orders? Or were there even any left by the time the empire in the west finally crumbled permanently? Was there any attempt to maintain discipline at that point? Did any of them support the new 'barbarian' rulers of their regions?

I ask this because the trials of German War Criminals at the IMT were held with the joint allies of the European front, whereas the IMFTE was an entirely American run show.

We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.[
