More specifically, what happened to the southern senators and representatives? Did any continue to stay in DC, or did they all stop showing up?

This is a topic that came up one time during dinner and it got me thinking, how can it be that in times when women were ubiquitously lower than men on the social hierarchy there were still female rulers, seemingly an exception to the rule?

Alright, I’m sorry if this doesn’t really fit but my family and I have been trying to solve something for quite a while. The statue is around 4’ tall and is of Venus. It’s either marble or plaster, we can’t quite tell. My grandfather stole it in the 1950s in Massachusetts after the floods. He’s long since past away and we’ve been trying to figure out where the statue originally belonged.

I’m an epidemiologist by training. I was recently listening to Dan Carlin’s series on the fall of the Roman Republic, and at one point he basically says “everybody was sleeping with everybody.” Given my background, that got me thinking about disease transmission pretty quickly. What do we know about STDs during this period?Where there preventative practices to try and reduce the spread of STDs, where there standard treatments when preventatives failed?

Specifically, I am curious about how Native Americans managed their relationships to large predators such as Gray Wolves, Grizzly Bears, and Mountain Lions. I understand there is likely variation throughout many tribes; did any tribes hunt and eat these large predators? Did any tribes have an antagonistic relationship with or attitude towards predators? Conversely, did any tribes revere them and consider killing predators taboo?

I live in Montana, and when discussing predator management/hunting, I have heard (totally anecdotally) that some of the Montana tribes consider(ed) it bad juju to kill wolves. I have been unable to find anything to confirm this in my own amateur research. Thank you!

I know that there were lawyers during the Classical era, although both the lawyers and judges were highly politicized at least in Rome. I would imagine that keeping track of every ancient precedent and legal clause would be considered too tedious for a king/duke, and too important to be handed over to a general advisor or diplomat. If such lawyers existed, were they lowborn or noble?

A common argument against any sort of gun control is the story that that is what Hitler did in Germany: they took away the guns from the population and that left them powerless against the Nazis to take control of the government. I was recently talking with my dad and he said that, in the book The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, he didn’t recall any mention of such a ploy.

My understanding is that Hitler won power through election and that it was rhetoric and the promise of making Germany a great country again after their defeats and embarrassments from WWI that lead to the power of the National Socialists and their regime.

Was gun control and public arms seizure a part of Hitler’s process?

The conquistadors wrote that the cities they encountered in present-day Mexico were often larger, grander, and more densely populated than the cities of Europe they were used to. Why were the Aztecs and their neighbors able to out-build Europeans to such an extent?

So yeah, I have a question why did Northern Schleswig join Denmark in 1920? Was it because of the War that wracked up the country 2 years earlier (Germany) or (which I doubt) Danish people actually making the Majority there. I wasn't able to find any sources on why and what precent of the population was Danish and German

I'm not real knowledgeable on this part of the world at this time in history, so I looked it up and the Dauphin wasn't even at the battle, so I know the movie is making stuff up here. BUT, would a king simply let the common soldiers basically execute the prince of France? Is it in all cases that royalty and nobility were taken prisoner until they could be ransomed off or could a scenario like that of "The King" have realistically happened?
