I know that multiple nations developed midget submarines. Japan is perhaps the most famous due to their participation at Pearl Harbor, but England, Italy, and Germany also developed them. They seem to have short ranges (dozens or perhaps a couple hundred km) and an extremely high attrition rate, though, sending many crews to watery graves.

What does this mean? Did this person have to put up like 10% of 1000 dollars to get out of jail? Or did he have to put up the full amount? Did he have to use cash money? Would him or his relative have maybe signed paper mentioning collateral?

I'm curious about the girls who did most of the accusing during the Salem witch trials. It seems odd to me that in what would be considered a misogynistic society several young, unmarried women could hold such sway. I understand the difference in beliefs back then and how witchcraft would be considered a serious threat. I also know that there was essentially a family feud tied in to it all as well. I know several of the accused claim the girls were lying (I think that was a large part of Elizabeth Proctor's "defense") and some acting as character witnesses claimed the girls were lying but from what I've read the accusations were always immediately accepted. So considering all of that why were the claims of these women not scrutinized more by those in authority?

So, everyone knows the germanic, anglosaxon (in general, the british isles) and scandinavians body of mythology and folklore traditions, there are really well known stories like the Ring of Nibelung, Beowulf and all of the creatures and heroes that lived across the british isles like banshees, small elves, etc.. They are practically the base of most modern phantasy genera from books like The Lord of the Rings to tabletops games like D&D.

But I've never hear about Frankish, goths or burgondis lore or myths. I'm just missing them due to my ignorance? are they practically the same than their neighbourghs since they where also of germanic descent? Did the evangelization erased them?

I just guess they did have their traditions when arriving to Gaul and also when doing their kindoms after the fall of rome and there are surely some marks in the christian middle ages. I'm interested in other tribes that settled in france like Borgundies, Etc. not only on franks!

The whole section regarding this language is a little cryptic (and I haven't read much further), but from what I could gather, Russian Intelligence has tasked this character (Tchitcherine) with developing a new alphabet to spread throughout Asia (particularly Kyrgyzstan)?

Is this a reference to anything that actually happened? And if the goal of this was to spread Russian influence (my guess), why is it in English letters instead of cyrillic?
