I'm watching Band of Brothers right now and I'm on episode 2. The American airborne soldiers dropped before the Americans, Canadians and British landed on the beaches, which I didn't know they came before. So my question is did the Nazis anticipate this and already have their AA up or was their defense hastily put together??]

Was there ever a time and place when, by chance, both sides planned to launch an attack on the enemy trenches at the same time? Did the soldiers ever meet and fight each other on no man's land?

Looking for more bigger picture commentary as opposed to a focus on the royal family and the Tsar.

I'm talking about this video made by Teen Vogue and shared by YouTube on their official account. How correct is this?

Hi guys,
For school I have to do a huge project this year where I get to choose a topic and then research and write a ton about it. You are expected to put atleast 80 hours of work into.
So I've obviously been thinking about things that interest me but have been having trouble coming up with a concrete topic to research. I was thinking of doing it about WW1, maybe something having to do with the causes for WW1 or maybe about the failures of the Austro Hungarian army.
Do you have any good ideas for a topic?
Some examples of topics done by last years students are:
"What effect did the Franco-Prussian war have on WW1"
"How comparable is Trump to Hitler" (Title is a bit clickbaity, it focused a lot on the similarities between modern america en 1930's germany)
"To what degree is Russia actually a democracy"
It'd be great if you could help me out!

So as the title says, what was the Eiffel Tower made of. Iron or Steel. The reason I ask is that we touched on it in History class lately and all sources I come across say Iron but the teacher says Steel as it was made in the Steel Era.

I was looking at busts of Roman emperors after falling into a rabbit hole on a random post. It was about Maximinus Thrax and I was blown away by the detail. So I googled up other emperors and famous Romans, like Julius Caesar, and wondered whether there were celebrated sculptors and artists like Raphael or Velazquez at the time, and who they were.
So, do we know any superstar Roman artists, sculptors and the like?
Should I limit the question to a time frame? How about the period of the 5 good emperors.
Maybe a good follow up question in case we don't know any would be, when did artists begin to be recognized in history?
Thanks in advance!

If this was the case, how was the colony able to overcome this? If it's not, where did the women come from, or was the incarceration gender ratio not as skewed as it is today?

I was reading a Russian history book and it seems that it couldn’t pinpoint an answer of which was more influential in determining Imperial Russia’s fate. What do you all think?

I've been looking into the U.S. Army during WW2 recently and I've found out that white-phosphorous ammunition in tanks was considered unsatisfactory. Does this criticism extend to the later portions of the war in the Western Front?

I find the legal use of meth very very interesting, this post is referring specifically to brands such as Philipon, Pervitin, among others. Obviously the legality prevents these products from "existing" in modern time, but it seems like it was on such a large scale that unopened containers or just empty containers for general historical memorabilia purposes would be all over the place.
