What caused the Years of Lead in Italy? Was it a remnant of the partisans during the Civil War?

I've been studying the Eighteenth Dynasty in an ancient history course at school, and this fascinated me, and I haven't been able to find an answer. If the Amarna Letters were correspondences between Egypt and other rulers, how come there are a number of Egyptian penned letters within them? I was under the impression they were all discovered in Egypt, although maybe I am wrong, but either way would love to find out.

EDIT: Actual explanation
I've heard the term enough and was interested in hearing a fuller explanation of the criticism of it. I recognize that most scholars think it is wrong, but normally I hear it dismissed in passing rather than hearing a detailed critique of the decline thesis.
Additionally, I was inspired by an answer I saw last night, which was removed (for lack of sources). My question had to do with a number of economic and social changes in the Ottoman Empire and comparisons to Europe (e.g. adoption of the printing press, the rise and decline of the Ottoman guild system, tax farming, the comparative economic development of the Ottoman Empire and the West over time), but I thought that literally asking a string of questions like that would be a bit much and thought that most of the information I would be after could be encapsulated by an explanation of why the decline thesis is wrong (or, I guess, a question on comparative economic development).

If gadget failed to detonate, what was the plan, ? And was there a backup should one of the bombs dropped on Japan failed to detonate or airburst and instead just hit the ground without effect?

At the end of the Apartheid it seems like the Afrikaners populations would have wanted their own state, after they had mistreated the africans for long time and where about to become a minority in the new country. Why was no effort made to split the country in two?
I have looked around for information on this but all I find is modern stuff about racists living in the middle of nowhere.

Does anyone know any sources of photos or historical artwork of what Victorian prostitutes wore, colours, or looked like?

I recently heard this from a friend of mine, and would just like some confirmation/context regarding this.

I am a historian, however I would like to further my knowledge on Hitler's views on ethnic groups people don't think about so much. One interesting one would be what Hitler thought of Native americans? Were they barbaric, civilized, Aryan, and if The Axis powers won, would the Native americans have been genocided off the planet for good?

I'm watching Gunpowder right now and a catholic character is executed early on. They are strapped down face up and a sturdy door is tied atop them. Weights are then placed atop until they are pressed like a grape.
It's surprisingly clean (perhaps due to the individual weights being small), and sates a baying crowd, but is it historically accurate?

Check out this picture of a formation of B-17's, tweeted by Ron Eisele today. As you can see all planes are painted brown, except one. The gray Flying Fortress also stands out because it has a big 'X' on its tail. That doesn't correspond with any of the known group markings for B-17's in the ETO.
My guess is that the X stands for eXperimental and that this B-17 is a newer version that was being tested. That would also explain the fact that it looks unpainted. Can anyone confirm or deny this assumption?

I know they could be shutting valves off for pipes that run to gauges and the like, but most of the scenes clearly show bolts being tightened on flanges etc. Did nuts often get forced along the bolts? Don't the bolts strip when being tightened back up? Just curious!

i know the archaic term refers to the word "wife" to mean "woman" not "married woman", and the term fishwife generally meant a woman who sold fish, coming from fishing parents. but since a fishwife is not necessarily married, does that mean that they also fished the fish themselves? im curious because fishing is basically an aquatic form of hunting, and hunting was a historically male occupation, plus i haven't personally found any information going into specifics. as for the relevant time period id say anything before the eighteen hundreds.

Assuming they didn't die would they live in Cyprus, Sicily etc or return home after some time? Were Normans being born in the Mediterranean? Did the Normans have a cultural or demographic impact on these islands?

I know who Pericles was but not enough about him or how he is viewed today to make much sense of the comparison. source video
I never know if I'm doing it right when I post here. I don't care about Steve Bannon, I just want to understand the context of the history he is using. What type of politician was Pericles?
