Are there some lasting effect that can even be seen today ? What was the impact religiously speaking ?

In pop culture, slavery is often only associated with the American South in the early 19th century. Shows like The Tudors, The Borgias etc. deal with Europe about 500-1,000 years ago, but never really mention slavery, even just in passing. How common was slavery back then, if around at all, throughout Europe?

I've tried searching online and the best I've found is separate books for individual regions like the UK. I'd like a source which compares and contrasts different castle architectures and classifies them into groups. A level lower than just ancient, medieval and modern. Thanks in advance!

Suppose I'm a typical middle-aged man living in Athens in 300BC.

How much do I know about the mythology, and do I believe all of it is historical fact? Am I strange if I don't believe it is?

How often to I go to worship? Do I go to sermons? Can I go and talk to a priest if I want?

I would think that because of current events, this field would be growing.

I recently came across this blog which argues that Tamil language is quite older than Sanskrit itself, I was under the misconception that Tamil was derived from Sanskrit. Which after some research turned out to be a lie. Could someone here clear my doubts on this? How old Tamil really is? Why does Sanskrit and Tamil have similarities if it's not derived from Sanskrit?
