I know he graduated 22nd out of 177 and was magna cum laude etc but I can never find what specific degree he earned.

I know he has a skill for geography and a passion for history (as is obvious by his excellent book on the war of 1812) but I can NEVER seem to find what specific major he got his degree in.

I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge or resources regarding the Globe during these times. I specifically would like to know what happened between the time of Shakespeare's death and when it was shut down. Resource links would be helpful.

I have a big gap in my knowledge about the conquest of the Americas, North, Central, and South. Can anyone recommend a decent book or two? Hopefully something with the words Code or Mystery in the title.

I'm looking for a good introduction to the Spanish Civil War. I would ideally like one that can set the stage for the political dynamics of Spain prior to the beginning of the conflict as well as the underlying causes of the War.

Ideally, I'd like to get a sense of the various factions on the Right and Left of the conflict, and to get a sense of "what made them tick." What united them? What divided them? How did the urban/rural divide play into the politics dynamics of Spain? How did fear of Communism and the Great Depression affect the conflict? How did memories of Spain's time at the top of the international hierarchy in the 16th Century and its subsequent decline affect the conflict?

Does anyone have any recommendations of books or other forms of media? I'm starting to form my own interpretations of what was going on, but there's nothing quite like a good survey history!

I understand this question can vary wildly based on time period/circumstances/location etc., but any examples from any time period are appreciated.

I haven't completed it yet but this is from multiple instances within his book God's Playground: Volume 1 on the history of Poland. From what I know of Polish government from other sources on the topic, it was somewhere between an oligarchy and a parliamentary monarchy. Do the Sejm, Szlachta, etc. create a system which fits the definition of a republic?

Train robberies, shootings in the desert, towns made of nothing but prostitutes and outlaws, you get it. Was it REALLY anything like that or were there laws actually enforced by a sheriff that took his job seriously?

I've always heard that the Church assimilated gods but a (quick, admittedly) Google search seemed mostly filled with dubious conspiracy theories.

I know that Japanese armor in the Heian era was a bit bulkier and more in-line with traditional lamellar all the while being very intricate, while armor in the 16th century part of the Sengoku Jidai looked better tailored to the wearer and although there was still intricate pieces of armor for well-off samurai, there were also more simplified pieces for the poorer ones.

What was the transition between the Heian style and the Sengoku Jidai style like? What similarities/differences did it have between the armors from both periods in time? Are there any famous examples?
