From most sources I am reading, people like to label Yuan rule as an essential military dictatorship under the Khan. Was there a chancellor, however? Was there some sort of assembly with legislative powers? Also, how did this compare with the Southern Song dynasty at the time? For these answers, presume the year is 1271, right after the creation of the Yuan Empire.

Bonus points to someone who also answers how the vassal Goryeo Kingdom government worked.

I understand that when it came to the design of tanks, that there were industrial capacity issues, that limited what they could build.

However a lot of their small arms seemed and to be of a poor design and quality. Why was that?

Germany owned quite a bit of Africa and even had a fairly big port in the Chinese area of Qingdao. They owned massive chunks of Africa like Cameroon and Tanzania and half of Papua New Guinea. I know that the Germans had to give up a lot (all?) of their colonial assets after their loss in the First World War. Even with that though, the German peoples still would've had time to firmly implant the German language in those areas. How come this never stuck?

If someone were fluent in one of them, would they then be able to understand the other or are they too different for that to be the case?

It's a common trope that Hitler screwed up the Axis plan at every twist and turn. However, I've been doing a course on WW2 for a while at school, and as far I can see, he only started losing it at Stalingrad and afterwords, and before that he was quite sane and did things kind of sensibly.

For example, during the opening weeks and months of Barbarossa, instead of simply rushing for cities, he deliberately ordered tanks to outmanoeuvre and encircle large Soviet armies. This seemed like a brilliant plan, and although the Germans still lost, massive armies of several hundred thousand Soviet troops were captured almost immediately following the attack.

So, is the "Lol, Hitler so dumb" argument justified, or is it just the benefit of foresight and our misconceptions?

My SO and I were watching "The Americans" and discussing communism and the USSR. She was asking about their social programs and if there were homeless people in the USSR. To clarify, perpetually homeless people – were there any? If so, what did they (the gov) do with them? What allowances for homeless people? Rehabilitation?

As a follow up, what books/resources would you recommend on the USSR era? Specifically on regular life and society. Documentaries, films, whatever! Thanks in advance.

Apart from chainmail what other types of armour would Germanic warriors be using? If I'm correct, the High German tribes were usually richer than those in the south and thus better armed.

Was scale armour used by Germanic warriors after the arrival of the Huns and other Central Asian peoples into Europe? I ask because I've seen depictions of Frankish warriors in scale armor and Saxons with lamellar helmets in museums.
