What is the most compelling reason that the Korean War is referred to as "The Forgotten War" by historians?

We've had other undeclared wars, Quasi-War for example, but my gut instinct is that it was right after WW2 and people simply tuned it out.

How was Adolf Hitler able to be both "Reichskanzler" and "Reichspräsident"?

I can´t find a real answer to this on the internet. It seems like Hitler used the death of Hindenburg to get into both positions, but how? Was it another 'Notverordnung'?

History of Christmas, Yule, and Santa Claus

I am interested in the origins and development of Christmas and its associated traditions. It is impossible to research this on the internet due to hundreds of dodgy-looking new-age sites claiming its all pagan and Christians just renamed it. And its such a big subject I don't know where to start.

The Scandinavian festival of Yule is often claimed as a precursor to Christmas, yet as far as I know there is no historical evidence for what Yule even was, beyond the name, and a later Christian source describing it as a midwinter blood-sacrifice.

Odin is often claimed as a precursor for Santa Claus, yet again, there is often no evidence presented for this. I think the Christian origins for most of Christmas tradition is more likely, but is there strong evidence or solid scholarship on this? Is there anyone who can disentangle this subject and provide clarity on any aspect of it.

Note that I am not particularly interested in American traditions, or the post-Clement Clarke Moore development of Santa Claus. I think this is pretty well known already.

Why would Sir James Grigg have commissioned this clothing, and what is it?

Link to photos of the suit and hat: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B20lCD0sDTLOUEVaYkw0bGctSVk&usp=sharing

Sir (Percy) James Grigg was Secretary of State for War 1942-1945 and I believe this was his. It was, presumably, commissioned just before he went to India as Finance Member of the Government of India in 1934.

It's owned by the mother of a friend and I've been asked to research it.

Was there a clear moment in American history where TV news clearly signaled a rise of new power structures? Newspapers having some sort of industry-wide fight against TV?

I know the go-to example of the 1960 Kennedy-Nixon debate, but it seems more happenstance than anything contrived. Instead I'm hoping for a more specific power shift along cultural, generational, ideological, economic, or regional lines.

I'm reasonably sure we're witnessing TV networks beginning to lose narrative control to "the internet" and I'm hoping there's some previous material to compare to and draw insight from.

In 12th Century England, what was the difference between a Duke and an Earl?

I'm reading Dan Jones' "The Plantagenets" and while Jones certainly knows how to make these old characters come to life, he's pretty light on details like what exactly it meant to be a Duke or Earl (or count?).

I've heard that Plague Doctors may have "unknowingly" protected themselves from airborne germs with their herb-stuffed masks, but do we know how effective, if at all, they were?

Had anyone tested the effectiveness of a lavender-stuffed mask at protecting one from inhaling bacteria? Or did plague doctors have a noticeably lower mortality rate when wearing their costume?

Back in the 80s my dad was an officer on a cargo ship, he tells me that they use to get reels of new movies to watch on the projector in the mess. When (and why) did film companies start allowing this practice?

I would have thought it'd be more profitable just to make them go to a movie theatre when ever they were at port, as it was my dad got to see a bunch of movies (including three James Bond movies, and two starwars movies) for free?
