What happened to all the elite regiments?

All the elite forces I can think of in modern militarys are some form of special forces, while in, for example, the Napoleonic Wars, Napoleon had 2 types of foot guards, the Old Guard and the Young Guard, and Russia had its own massive lifeguard corps, as did the United Kingdom and virtually every country at the time. What happened to 'elite' front line regiments?

When I watch history documentaries, what should I look for in terms of reliability?

I've just seen a documentary on the French Revolution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyXcUMftRs8.

Every time it cuts to an academic I google them to see their credentials. The credentials of those involved in this documentary seemed sound.

I will never use documentaries as a main source of research, but I enjoy watching them at night.

What factual pitfalls are involved with documentaries?

I found this dress at a thrift store. What era and country is it from?

It seems to be a recreation dress of some sort. It's definitely not a modern style.

I do not know what era or timeline this dress would be. Or what country's style it is based on.

Here is a picture of me with it! sorry for my weird face, I looked down while the shutter activated

Who drag queens behind the Stonewall Riots?

I am not sure if the title accurately conveyed what I am trying to ask. Basically, amongst the LGBT community there seems to be some discourse over who the main instigators of the Stonewall Riots were.

Many have been quick to make the conclusion that they were mostly drag queens and POC, but I have also read articles which paint assimilationist gays as the main aggressors in the riots.

Which version is the most correct?

Where did the "Fez" hat originate from

I always thought it came from the ottomans, but i've heard that it has actually been around before the ottoman empire was ever established, or even Islam and Christianity and was worn in Ancient Greece and the Balkans, I also heard that it may have come from ancient Morocco

I know the Ottoman empire popularized it, making people where it to be more modern, but I was wondering if anyone knows where the hat originated from, thank you

Has there ever been a challenge to the age requirements for representatives, senators, and president within the U.S.?

I can't find any examples using google and I feel like its pretty blatant age discrimination so it must have been challenged at some point. Hopefully this is the correct sub for this question.

Spanish allies in the Americas

My understanding is that when the Viceroyalty of New Spain was founded, Spanish forces were a small core of pike and shot style soldiers from Spain, and huge hosts of native allies who seized the opportunity to overthrow hated Tenochtitlan. What became of these allies after the fall of Tenochtitlan, and how did Spanish technology affect the native way of war?

How did North Korea become a captive state?

North Korea seems to be a rare case of a brutal autocratic government stamping out all resistance and successfully brainwashing an entire populace in the modern world. Even the Nazis, Stalinists and Maoists had to deal with resistance movements and populations that did not fully accept their ideologies. I'm aware of a lot of the history of North Korea and how Kim Il-Sung seized the moment after WWII to come to power, but I would like to know more about how the Kim family successfully brainwashed and pacified an entire nation. What was the "tipping point" for people accepting his absolute rule? How can millions of people starve to death and nobody fight back? How does the population accept ludicrous "facts" and explanations from the government? How can so many people suffer and see their neighbors suffering without anybody taking the initiative to revolt? What has enabled North Korea to clamp down on dissent for over 50 years despite increasing access (legally surreptitiously) by the citizens to international communication?

Or my question may be way off, and it was just a weird Prairie thing that my mom's school did.
