I realize that this is a very broad question with different answers depending on how you view both Nietzsche's philosophy, the relationship between Jesus and the early Christians and so on.

I'd like quality information and sources on unit formations, their tactics, how they would arrange their men before a battle, and some fighting techniques they used, also how and when they employed their ballistas etc.

I know they have quite a long history but perhaps when they were at the height of their power or their most famous movements. It's because I want to recreate these tactics etc in a video game set between 363 AD to 476 AD and based on Rome.

Did the armies the Romans encountered and beat (Like the Gauls) ever recreate the roman artillery they saw being used against them?

I'm going to Paris on Thursday, and we're going to be taking a tour of the Catacombs. What is the history of the Catacombs? Who's buried there? Why did the creators pile the bones like they did? Also, what's with some of the creepy signs? (i.e. "You are entering the empire of death")

Can someone give me a comparison between WWII and Cold War spycraft (by which I mean the type of training a intelligence operative would receive before going into the field). Were there doctrinal changes between the Cold War and WWII? I understand that SOE's main goal was sabotage and subversion of occupied Europe, but did this carry over to the Cold War? Did the methods of recruiting sources of information very between the two periods?

When listening to an opera in Italian which I mistook for Spanish at first, I started wondering why most operas, symphonies and so on that I know from the 18th and 19th centuries were written by composers from or working in Italy, the Holy Roman Empire, France and Russia, but few from Spain or Portugal. Could it have something to do with the Spanish Empire's often discussed economic decline and political chaos in the 18th/19th centuries (possibly in connection with the Leyenda negra)? As composers were often sponsored by aristocrats, did Spain's long royal and Catholic tradition(s) mean a lack of sponsorship compared to more Protestant regions, like i.e. the Germanic duchies? Or maybe I'm just missing out on a lot of great Hispanic Classical Music (which of course existed). Would be grateful for any input and ideas.
