Why is the King of Saudi Arabia referred to as "King", when historically, Islamic Monarchs used the title of "Sultan"?

I never really knew where to put this, but considering the things people know here, I'll give it a shot.

How did ancient Rome capture Lions?

The thought just occurred to me, but how was it the Romans acquired Lions for their game, when tranquilizers didn't exist? Did it make them expensive because of their difficulty to capture? Or did they just throw slaves at it until they caught it?

Why were colonists generally disliked by people in the mother country?

In history, people who migrated to colonies were often looked down upon. Did colonists have a social standing that drove others to look down on them? Or was there a past that colonists shared that made people treat them as inferior?

Is film footage from WWI real?

I've been watching "The Great War" on youtube. The footage they have seems to be a "reproduction" of wartime during WWI. What I mean by that is there is a lot of footage that has been taken from outside the trenches, looking down upon say, a machine gun shooting. Was this film actually taken during battles, or was it staged in some way?

Can someone explain to me (in a smart way) why the West overtook the East [I believe its called The Great Divergence]

I was just thinking about how historically the East (India + China) were the richer parts of the world but then suddenly they were eclipsed by the West. The thought led me to read up stuff on the internet about it but I would prefer a scholarly take on it without getting too simplistic in explaining the trend.

And I hope some of you can recommend good solid history books on the matter.

Did Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel by himself or did he have apprentices?

My understanding of Renaissance artists leads me to believe that Michelangelo couldn't do it just by himself and had apprentices work on smaller areas of the painting. Am I wrong here?

Demographics of Sub-Saharan Africa often give a large % believing 'local' or 'indigenous' religions. What is the nature and history of these religions? Are they related? Are they polytheistic?

I understand that there is probably a significant amount of variation within the region, but to be more specific I would have to specify a specific country or region, and I have none in particular in mind.

So would nearby religions be 'related'? To what extent are they religions as the West knows; do they feature Gods? Are they similar to the 'pagan' religions of pre-Christian Europe (Norse, Celtic..)

Also, how large an area is each religion 'confined' to? Would they make up 1000 people? 1,000,000? Are there any indigenous religions which can be found throughout the continent?

Note: I posted this about a month ago, but got no response. I'm quite interested, so I thought I'd try again.
