I know the part itself was the National Socialist German Workers' Party, which was abbreviated NSDAP... Obviously a mouthful. And I know in German that it's "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" Shortened to National Socialist, or NationalSozialistichem in a weird acronym/portmanteau/abbreviation, NaZi.

My question is, did Hitler and/or early party members (Rohm, etc) ever use the phrase "Nazi," or was that something everyone else called them?

In other words, the swastika, etc, to every day Germans just symbols of the National Socialist party, which was, to them, beginning the "Third Reich" (which to them just mean Third Empire)? Or was the term "Nazi" used colloquially among the people and the party as well?

I'm reading Plutarch's life of Lucullus, right now. How much of a chance did Mithridates have against the Romans? Would he have had a better chance if he had started fighting a few years previously, when Rome was still in the midst of the Social War?

Although I don't speak another language it seems to me that Britain has a vast range of accents compared to other nations, not only that but across such small distances. Liverpool for example is only 33 miles from Manchester yet has a massive difference in accents? Is this common in other countries and is it simply due to lack of migration during medieval times?

I am aware that Russia and France have also produced some famous composers but the most revered and listened to seem to hail from from the Italian states and southern Germany (Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner and many others). Is this a coincidence or was this form of art more respected or encouraged in these areas?

I know that Spartas power began declining about a century after the Peloponnesian War, was absorbed by the Achaean league by the 2nd century BC and were finally conquered by the Romans. Sparta then became a tourist attraction for the elite allowing for it's unique and exotic culture/society to be somewhat preserved despite loss of it's independence. As late as 378 AD a Spartan phalanx supposedly defeated a force of Visigoths. Even in 804 AD Greeks of Laconia (the region surrounding Sparta) were resisting conversion to Christianity. So I'm extremley curious as to more information on when, how and in what ways did the extraordinary Spartan culture, society and religion survive.

So I'm currently doing research about immigration laws/reforms during Roman antiquity and I have hit a bit of a roadblock with finding actual laws and reforms since they are all in latin and Im having trouble reading and translating them accurately. My university lib doesn't have a lot of information on the subject except for a few books and journals about the basics of Roman law.

So I have turned to you Reddit, any ideas as to where I might find information about Roman immigration legislation?

I have been searching for a project, but havent had any luck. The period is Edo, but other than current day cities I cant find the largest at that point in time. Does anyone know a helpful resource I could use to find this? Thanks in advance!
