Clinton was elected in 1992 so I think it is outside of the 20-year rule. I grew up during the Clinton era but was too young to really engage it. Are there are any books recognized as being particularly good about this period, or is it still too soon? Thanks!

We always refer to historical figures by their surname, like Robespierre, Hitler and Stalin. Why is it that we refer to Napoleon by his first name and not Bonaparte?

In early part of American history, it feels like Boston and Philadelphia are the cities at the center of it all, where everything big happens happens. However, in the modern era, NYC is by far the largest city on the East Coast (population of 8 mil) while Philly (1.5 mil) and Boston (600k) are now much smaller. When and how did this transition take place and what caused it to happen?
