Ive been playing the game Ryse: Son of Rome and most characters on both sides (Romans and Barbarians) have sort of a British accent. Same with the movie Gladiator. What What DID their accent sound like back then?

it seems that because of where it lies geographically and because of the ardent Catholicism that the Mafia started out as a shadow govt/resistance organization. wondering if that thought has any validity?

A little context:
My partner may end up getting a nursing job but we don't know where, hence the idea to go Online
I'm interested in making enough to be able to have a decent life with some travel thrown in each year
I already know I'm good in front of a class and that teaching works for me
I'm a fiction writer with ambitions of getting published
I'm open to the possibility of a doctorate down the line
Would getting the M. A. online be shooting myself in the foot or is it a solid option? Perhaps I should wait until I can devote two years to a brick and mortar?
Thank you for any suggestions, they're much appreciated.

How long did it take? How many people on both sides were killed? Did they have to quell any rebellion from the natives post-conquest? Did anything culturally indigenous survive the conquest?

Can someone tell me what CPL. BTRY E. / 105 FA 27 DIV means? I'm assuming these are batteries or divisions? Googling "105 FA 27 DIV" didn't help me, nor did Googling "CPL. BTRY E.".

When they met the fierce lines of resistance in the southern portion of the island why was it necessary for them to proceed with the fighting? There were several locations on the northern part of the island and on the island of le Shima suitable for airfields and out of range of Japanese artillery. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to create a defensive line in the center of the island and let the Japanese forces (who had no source of resupply) come to them?

While watching "Anne Frank: The Whole Story" (2001), a Gestapo officer tells Otto Frank: "But why didn't register as a veteran? You would have been sent to Theresienstadt. You would have been treated differently."
Was treatment really better there? No summary executions? What would have happened to the rest of Otto Frank's family in the case he had registered? Would they have been spared and sent to Theresienstadt with him?

Hi I found two different stories about Nero. the first (from BBC documentary) says that Nero was good man in the beginning, but after "Great Fire of Rome", when he tried to reconstruct the town, he become foolish of art. In the second, (other documentary) it's said that he was crazy from the beginning and the fire was made by him in order to get more space for his self. which one is correct ?

I've started watching the History Channels Vikings, and obviously it's not completely historical, but the Jarl seems to be above reproach. Did the Vikings consider each man free? Did the Vikings have any type of judicial system?

let's say, between 365-867 AD or something like that? I might be wrong. But am talking about the new roman army that got rid of the Legions with square shields, and replaced them with Germanic soldiers and put more emphasis on cavalry and such.

And as a secondary question, was there an intermediate period where only the Heir Apparent would be styled prince or something?
