Which society had the strongest sense of property rights? When did the concept of property rights gain traction and how did it influence economic activity?

Growing up in a modern and most likely Western society we all take property rights for granted. I am wondering how this idea came into being and since when (or in which society) it has been expected that you can actually 'own' something without the fear of it being taken away from you. Also, how did the introduction of property rights influence economic activity?

When did it become apparent that The Lord of the Rings would completely shape the fantasy genre? Was this known within Tolkien's lifetime?

It seems like almost all of modern fantasy(at least in the mainstream) is based in some way off of the world of Tolkien, with his conception of elves amd orcs and such. Was this massive influence on the genre known within his lifetime?

I suspect that racism in the US was promoted by corporate/big-media interests at various times between the Civil War and WW2 to split labor movements along racial lines. Is there any evidence for this?

Council at Chalcedon - What was it like?

If I was attending the Council at Chalcedon in 451 C.E. to decide if the Doctrine of the Trinity was to be incorporated into canon theology:

-Who would I likely be (Who attended this meeting, how large was it?)

-How diverse were the opinions of those attending the Council re: incorporating the Trinity?

-Was there a competing school of thought regarding Jesus' nature which held quite a bit of weight among Council attendees?

-How was the authority of this Council decided upon in the first place? Competing theologies may still exist, but why was this Council at all accepted?

Does anyone know how the knowledge of fire spread?

This might be prehistory, and as such out of this sub's scope, but I was wondering if we know how the knowledge of fire creation spread. Were people of the time so centrally located that the innovation was easily passed or is it known/assumed a few people figured it out at a similar time?

To add clarity, I'm curious about starting a fire from "scratch" with two sticks or a flint, and not referring to controlling a fire that had been started naturally I.e. dry conditions or lightning.

What is one of the best books to learn about the history and development of Hinduism and the Vedic religion?

Hi,

I hope such a question isn't against the subreddit rules. I didn't see anything against it. I'm looking for a book which is authoritative and presents what is the consensus among historians. It would also be great if its includes evidences and such, but I'd rather if its not too scholarly. I'm very interested in the history of Hinduism, and would like to learn more!

Thanks
