Reading a biography about Winston Churchill and in it Churchill seems to blame British support of the ottoman empire during a Cretan uprising on that fear.

I've read that during the Qing Dynasty, the Manchu set up a line of trees to be the border between the Han parts of China and the Manchurian ones and that Han were not allowed to cross it. Then the Japanese actually made it a totally different country. But fast forward to the end of WW2 and it seems as though it were completely Han.

The title is the main question. I can't really find anything about how important his cabinet was to him, and so I guess I'll ask here, if this is the right place. I just need to know how often his cabinet influenced his decision making, if they even ever had a say in what he did.

While studying history in North and South America, I noticed that a recurring problem in the countries was that of the difficulty of social mobility. Has a consensus been reached as to what the main cause for a lack of social mobility? I can't say for certain, but though it's likely that each country in the Americas has different reasons for a lack of social mobility, is there a single, glaring reason?

Debate tomorrow at school.. Not sure what side would be the stronger one to defend/refute.

In many video games and movies we see a lot of archers using arrows that have had the tip lit on fire. I am wondering was this common/practical throughout history? Wouldn't the air rushing pass the arrow as it flew put out the flame? Would the fire even catch or do significantly more damage than a regular arrow?

Alexander represents the Greeks on Civ 5 and it made me wonder?

In the 8th century text by Nennius, about the history of Britain, he describes the many battles of a supposed military commander called Arthur. We interpret this as the source of myths and legends about King Arthur.

However, one of the battles he describes occurred on Mount Badon, also translated as Bath-hill. However, I've been told historians have not yet found the location of the supposed hill anywhere in Britain. This mystery has always boggled my mind.

Do we have any evidence of the existence of such a hill where the battle may have taken place? Or have historians discredited Nennius' text as being entirely fictitious?

First off I just want to say that this is purely for me. It's not for an assignment or anything.

I just watched Band of Brothers again and I'm incredibly intrigued by the scene where they find the camp and have to figure out exactly what it is. I'm basically looking for written accounts of that type of experience. Basically soldiers having no idea what they're walking into. I'm definitely looking for pieces that spend time focusing on the emotional response to what was found as opposed to simply describing what they found.

I hear all these different things. Some people say it started when Christopher Columbus chopped of the Naive Americans head(might be an exaggeration.) I hear from others that we were thankful for a successful trip to America then later started the slaughter. Can anyone enlighten me? For this I will be thankful for.
