Why didn't Polynesians discover Australia?

See title. I don't know whether there are any cases or evidence but it strikes me as very strange that a people who travelled so far. From Easter island, Hawaii and new Zealand did not make contact with aboriginal people in Australia. Is there a geographic reason, currents or winds? Was it not the type of land they were looking for? Or did they find Australia but didn't settle because it was already occupied? Is there any evidence or stories of contact between pacific people and aborigines in Australia? Thanks

Around 1700, Scotland attempted to start a small colony in Panama, in an area Spain had claimed. They were forced out after a Spanish blockade. Did the Scots anticipate this response? If so, why did they still attempt to create this colony?

Help locating archaic numbers system

Years ago I stumbled upon an article online (which for the life of me I have not been able to re-locate) about a fractional numbers system used by the stone cutters guilds in the medieval era in southwestern Spain or perhaps south eastern Portugal.

It was expressed as circles with various lines bisecting these circles and half-circles either vertical or horizontal in orientation. This symbols corresponded to fractions. Does anyone have a clue where to find information on this system?

The traded territory can be seen here, in purple. They surrendered all of Thuringia and much of Saxony in exchange for a small exclave deep within another country. Why?

How did Hannibal treat the dead bodies of Roman generals? I read that Hasrubal's (Hannibal's brother) was beheaded and his head was thrown into Hannibal's camp, while Hannibal was much more classy in his treatment of the Roman dead. I was looking for some examples or details.

Is my teacher trying to fool me with this question? (Violence in Africa)

The following question was presented as extra credit in my class: "Identify a country in Africa that has not had any political violence since the end of colonialism."

I was thinking that it would be easy, just plug it into google and pull out the answer and secure 2 points.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I have been googeling on Africa for 45 min and I cannot find a single word written about a peaceful country in Africa.

How should I go about this? Should I google country by country and see what comes up? Or is there some list with countries that list them after the last time they went to war that could be beneficial for me?

Feels like I am looking at this wrong, it is a lot of work for 2 points I must be missing something!

Why isn´t Simón Bolívar a household name?

I´m Venezuelan so biased, but the dude liberated 3/4 of an entire continent on horseback. Perhaps tactical geniuses like Napoleon or Alexander get recognition due to the colonial purpose of their strategies. But what other 'liberators' can compare with the sheer expansiveness of the territory Bolívar helped decolonize?

Most people associate vikings with loot, plunder and rape. Is that an accurate portrayal of the vikings?

I recall hearing that the amount of vikings that actually did loot and plunder villages and cities were of a minority, whereas most of them actually stuck to peaceful trading instead.

How true is the "viking stereotype"?
