So we can say both in a modern and historical sense. I have been thinking about this for quite sometime and I just can't see why, of all groups, the Jewish were and are the ones.

Can someone recommend a good book covering WW2 in a single volume?

I've got Churchill's 6 volume edition of WW2, but I find it to be quite sprawling and also slightly deficient in a couple of areas (I'm looking at you, Bletchley park!)

I frequently find myself clueless about certain Christian traditions and where Christianity and different denominations actually stemmed from and how this all relates to Judaism and later Islam. Also what's the deal with those 12 Israelite Tribes? I've exhausted Youtube documentaries and conducted a few rudimentary Google searches only to stumble upon subjective articles clearly written with a religious agenda in mind. I'd appreciate a purely historical perspective on Abrahamic religions.

I am currently working my way through The History of Rome podcast, and in the segment about the first Punic war it is mentioned that after the failure of Regulus raid, the Roman fleet arrived in the spring to pick up the survivors. On their way home a storm blew up and reportedly sank the vast majority of the fleet, causing 80,000+ casualties. There seems to be numerous other occasions in antiquity involving the total catastrophic loss of fleets due to storms, navigational errors, etc.

When did technology and techniques advance to the point where history stops seeing these massive near total losses of fleets?

The Sinai is such a large and strategically important piece of land that it seems hard to believe that Israel agreed to return it to Egypt. Was there opposition to returning Sinai to Egypt within Israel at the time?

Where can I find data for particular countries' external tariffs for a certain year or time period? Like what would France's external tariff be in 1950?

I was recently reading some articles published by Catholic news sources about the strong anti-clericalism and anti-Catholicism in the Second Spanish Republic. I do know that during the civil war, the Church openly supported Franco, and a number of priests were killed and churches were demolished. Was someone endangering their self if they were open about being Catholic in Barcelona or Madrid under republican governance? Were there any Catholics fighting for the republic, including international volunteers?

A friend on Facebook asked: "how many of those deaths have actually been recorded to be attributed to wild animal attacks like Poisonous snakes or alligator attacks? One would think this would be a fairly substantial number with most of the fighting happening in the Southern states and eastern mountain ranges where such critters are numerous."

I've seen it mentioned a few times in posts here, and Dan Carlin mentions a few times that he's not a huge fan. I'm reading his First World War book and it seems fine if not great. So why the dislike?

After the massive, famous battles that occured along the Eastern front, what would be done with the smoldering ruins of the tanks? The knocked out or still functioning artillery pieces? And the hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of Wehrmacht/Red Army bodies?
