What would be the personal, legal and social impacts for a young unmarried man converting from Judaism to Christianity during the 13th or 14th centuries in a European country? Would this person be accepted more after the conversion, or would he be considered an outcast by both groups? What could he do that he could not do before if anything?

The image of student groups "protesting the war" is so common as to have become a stereotype, but were there any groups that were basically fine with the war or even in favor of it, and who were willing to publicly demonstrate in support of it?

http://puu.sh/bztki/984e957d86.jpg here's a screenshot for reference. From my understanding the standard issue M1A1 Thompson had a 20 round box magazine. The 50 round drum magazine was made famous 20 years earlier by Al Capone's crew in Chicago but I don't recall seeing one in an accurate WWII context. My question is how did a grunt on Guadalcanal get a round drum for his standard issue Thompson? Please feel free to correct any misunderstandings I have on the matter.

Columbus is credited with discovering america, but obviously people had sailed there long before him. Im interested as to where the aborigines and native americans came from and around what time period. My assumption is that they were sailors from africa.

Is it possible to calculate at what point(s) in time when the total population of living humans equaled the number of all humans that had lived before that point? If so, what points in time has this happened?
If anyone has a better way to ask this question, I'm all ears!

The only extant description on Attila's appearance is that of Priscus: "short of stature, with a broad chest and a large head; his eyes were small, his beard thin and sprinkled with gray; and he had a flat nose and a swarthy complexion, showing the evidences of his origin" (like this old illustration shows).
However when I search for images of Attila, nearly all of them have Caucasoid features.
Is there any evidence that he was "Caucasian" looking?

The Greeks at the time seemed to know a lot about their surrounding lands and their people's, but how likely was it for them to allow a foreigner to become a king? If he was a foreigner, where was he likely from?

Was it because they hadn't been part of the Russian empire? If so, that seems odd, since I've heard that the USSR didn't consider itself a successor to the Russian Empire.

I recently saw a copy of my great-grandparent's marriage certificate from Iowa in the late 1880s. It listed their race as "Norwegian." My question is really two-fold. When and why did "white" race shift from ethnicity/nationality and towards the monolithic view of "White" we have today? Additionally, why is it that Hispanic got recognized as a separate ethnicity? One can be Black and Hispanic or White and Hispanic. Why doesn't the US government recognize being Arabic or Italian (or whatever) as a separate ethnicity worthy of recognition alongside Hispanic?

It seems that every president has shaken its predecessor's hand at least once, so at most 43 handshakes. Is it possible to find a smaller (even much smaller?) chain? If someone knows a source of all the inter-presidential handshakes, I can find the smallest chain going only through presidents, but it could also go through other people.

Also, is it fair to say that an immigrant from a small village in Poland just arriving in the US that year would probably be seeing a car for the first time?
