Bonus points for covering its early history as a subject nation in the Athenian League and as a Roman province!
Also, are there contemporary histories that cover important turning points in Byzantine history - something to the tune of Thucydides' "History of the Peloponnesian War", perhaps?

Based on my research, the North Indians (Literally north part of India, and Pakistani people) were travelers, and Indians have had frigates since the 17th century. So why is it that they didn't try to stake out parts of Africa, surrounding Asian areas, or the Americas for themselves?

I have noticed that whenever I see documentaries with more native people, such as tribes in the Amazon, a lot of the men are either skinny, or are slightly bellied but certainly not in any way fat. Due to less food being around in the past could people not have been able to get to the same size and definition of say, Arnold Schwarznegger or Sylvester Stallone? (Terrible examples, I know) to get to look like a body builder a lot of necessary training is required which you wouldn't do, I doubt a tribesmen would start doing crunches. Would say a Roman soldier be incredibly defined and 'buff' or would it simply be undoable due to lack of large amounts of food? And the fact they didn't do 'body builder like' exercise? (Sorry if I have worded this badly.)

During a discussion with my boyfriend, he suggested that a scene in 'Band of Brothers' was factually incorrect because American genreal-issue rifles could not be disassembled to be cleaned. He reasoned that the springs in the firing mechanism were so precisely aligned and disassembling would ruin this alignment, thus meaning the gun couldn't be fired again.
Me, being the sceptic that I am, tried to research this online but came up with a lack of information supporting my gut feeling that guns were able to be disassembled. So I came to reddit!
So, r/AskHistorians, is this true? Could American general-issue rifles be disassembled to be cleaned? Or is my boyfriend right? References would be highly appreciated.
Thanks, Girl who refuses to take anything at face value

I am doing quite alot of research on the paleolithic and Mesolithic eras. I have come across articles stating that Neanderthals were the first to eat birds(http://phys.org/news/2014-08-ancient-pigeon-bones-reveal-secrets.html) among other articles. With that said, how much relevance should I put into these new findings and what other findings should I look at also?
For clearifications sake, I am making a series of games from 750,000 bc to future times. I am trying to find the best data available to use.
Mods, I understand that this maybe in the wrong reddit but I am just trying to find the best answer possible.
Thank you for your time, Drew

(I am new to this sub-reddit and I apologise if this has been asked before) I was thinking to myself idly whilst listening to the Rome podcast. When Carthaginian ships were boarded by the Romans would they simply kill the combatants and rush back to their own ship? Or would they go down into the ship to kill the oarsmen to prevent them returning to safety? Thanks.

I could imagine a number of places where partisan coordination might have occurred, including in the selection of names to be drawn from or in the negotiations over legislation/policy selection.
And what should I read to learn more about the politics of Renaissance Florence? I'm particularly interested in the period before the rise of the Medici, say 1328 to 1434.

As a follow up- How did this differ from POWs in WW1 (which I would suspect would be similar) or a wildly different conflict such as the America-Vietnam War?

If so, what sort of places would they visit? How long could they afford to stay? Would they take food with them to save money? Would single women take vacations and travel alone?
Edit: One more question--what kind of accommodations could a lower or middle class person afford?

I'm delving into the subject for class and I'm having trouble finding articles and essays on the topic of Irish-American or American support for Republican terrorism. Can anybody help?

It seems like it would've been fairly easy to take.
Edit: Thanks for all the replies guys! I knew there had to be a reason why Japan didn't do, I just couldn't think of one.
As a follow up question, do you think American would have still entered the war if the Japanese hadn't kicked the hornet's nest?
