Largely interested because to use images to tell a story you gain a fraction of a moment in time, captured from a very specific angle. As compared to written sources, the depth and clarity of what they can tell us seems rather nebulous. Any recommendations?

Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Day of Reflection. Nobody can read everything that appears here each day, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.

Since British Imperial troops, primarily Canadians and Australians, became renowned for this role, what exactly made them so good for it? I find it hard to believe that simply being from those countries meant they had a better grasp of these tactics.
Was it something to do with the training of these soldiers? After all, they weren't mobilised in the millions like British soldiers, so did this mean they were able to be given more specialised training for this role?
And a follow-up if possible:
Canadians and Australians are the best known, but did shock troops come from anywhere else? Were there British units, or equivalents in the other Entente armies?

I've often been told in my IB history class that Kaiser Wilhelm II looked up to the British, and that the reason for aggravating the Moroccan Crises was to undermine Anglo-French relations, as he felt that Britain was the natural ally of Germany, not France. If this is so, why did he send the Kruger Telegram, which inflamed British sensibilities?

To me I still have this very vague idea of how Vikings looked liked, or even how they acted in their lives what they worshiped and just how on earth did they come to create this amazingly mysterious art, particularly I am interested in their religion and their customs and their everyday life routines. I would appreciate if you've sources, I would like to go in depth with this topics, thanks in advance.

Currently around 20% (1,35 of 7 billion people) of the worlds population live in the Peoples Republic of China. Is this the most in the history of humanity or has there ever been a more populous country/empire/state (everything which has some kind of shared government/leader structure counts) in percentage of total world population? Maybe the Mongolian empire?

I'd also welcome pointers to source material and any interesting stories you may have come across about military police in this period. Thanks!

So while playing Napoleon Total War and having big line battles where combat was indecisive due to equal rate of fire and accuracy between sides, I started thinking about what if one side had newer weapons, like single shot breach loaded weapons. I know that these are quite superior to muskets and the like, but what examples of war (in Europe) occurred during the changeover between muzzle to breach loaded weapons?

Is there any literature/documents that detail Rommel's enemies praising him?

Are there any sizeable ethnic English or Scottish minorities in countries not colonised by the UK, or was there any sizeable emigration to those places in the past? Are there English pride parades in these countries, like there are with other migrant populations, like the Irish, Italians, etc?
I know that in Argentina and Uruguay that there were British engineers and such that helped built the railways, and as such there's a scattering of British surnames around (e.g. Hector Cuper, Sebastian Coates). I'm also aware of the Welsh settlements in Argentina.

It seems that many of the proclaimers of anarchy as a political structure (or lack there of), such as Noam Chomsky and Stuart Christie, single out the Spanish Civil War as the number one example of it in practice. However, through my limited reading of other sources around the War, which aren't focussed on Anarchy, it doesn't seem to be a major factor: militarism, fascism and communism appear to be far more serious of issues.
So how reliably can we use Revolutionary Spain as an example of anarchy in practice? Was it effective, and to what extent? And why does it seem that so many historians have such varying opinions about it?

Are there any sources which offer evidence about what Medieval Women thought about "Courtly Love", both as a form of entertainment (either in stories or song), and as appertaining to behavior in the real world?

Forgive me if I missed this in the list of frequently asked questions, but I did not seem to find this topic. I was simply curious as to when and why a person not wearing clothing became a taboo.

I know this seems ridiculous, but it's what one of my history professors told us. He didn't provide any back up, but insisted the solider's rectums were literally frozen shut causing sepsis. Did this to anyone's knowledge actually happen?

My Great Uncle flew bombers during WW2 and supposedly brought this home with him. There are other similar questions online, but no satisfactory answers. I think he flew the B-17 either out of, or over Italy.
