For clarification, we have all heard/known that the VERY early humans were much taller and more muscular. I'm interested in the rough time period where the evolution of our ancestors "plateau'd", so to speak.
My apologies if this belongs in an archaeology subreddit.

I had some questions about Britan's Royal Air Force during WWII.
What was the command structure of the RAF like during WWII? Was it organized similar to other countries' air forces?
Was it controlled by the army, or it's own Military division?
EDIT: Found an answer Researching on my own; apparently it was the first Air force to be independent of other divisions, ie the U.S. Air Force was part of the army until after WWII. Who were some major leaders During WWII?
Any Notable Pilots, or Aces?

From what I've read on wikipedia, one would have to give up their lands and titles to join, who did that land go to?
I also have a question on what it took to join an order, besides taking a few vows.

Both Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were imprisoned for months before being executed. What conditions were they kept in during their 'house arrest' at the Tuileris/imprisonment at the Temple?

I remember reading that a good sword or suit of armor was extremely expensive, which intuitively makes sense, but I could not find exact prices.
How easy was it for a nobleman to afford a new sword?
How long would it likely take for a peasant to save up for a sword and/or suit of armor?
Were some smiths particularly revered such that they could charge a lot more?

As the title states, an average cycle in a woman's period is 4 weeks, so is an average month. Is this a coincidence when the calendar was created?

Why is it that Canadian federalism has become very decentralized despite Canada being quite centralized upon Confederation? And why has Australian federalism become more centralized (even more so than American and certainly Canadian federalism) despite Australia starting out as a decentralized one upon Federation?
In other words, why have Canadian and Australian federalisms each gone the opposite of their intended ways?

I'm reading The Palestine-Israel Conflict: A Basic Introduction by Gregory Harms and Todd M. Ferry, and it says this:
After Genghis’s death in 1227, one of his grandsons, Hulegu, decided to move the conquest further west with the intent of driving his forces all the way through the Middle East as far as Egypt. In 1256 Hulegu ploughed through the territories of Iran, Iraq, and Syria. By 1258 the Mongols had reached Baghdad and laid waste to libraries, mosques, and centuries worth of physical history. Estimates vary, but it’s safe to say that a million people were slaughtered during the siege (though Christians and Jews were spared).
Is this the case, as far as we can tell? If so, why did Hulegu choose to spare Jews/Christians?

I have read all his novels and know his cast of characters well but I really know very little about the historicity of Sven Hassel.
The stories are written as first person stories and even his Wikipedia page claims he participated on all fronts, something which sounds very unlikely to me.
The Danish writer Erik Haaest has been disputing Hassel's claims for many years.
From Sven Hassel, 3 - Controversy:
Haaest writes that Sven Hassel is actually Børge Villy Redsted Pedersen, a Danish Nazi who never served on the Russian front. According to Haaest, the author spent the majority of World War II in occupied Denmark and his knowledge of warfare comes second-hand from Danish Waffen-SS veterans whom he met after the end of the war. Haaest also alleges that Hassel's first novel was ghostwritten and when it became a success, he employed his wife to write the rest of his books. Haaest claims that during the war period, Pedersen/Hassel, was in fact a member of the HIPO Corps or Hilfspolizei, an auxiliary Danish police force created by the Gestapo, consisting of collaborators.
Can any historian shed some light on this?

I've heard that one of the common criticisms leveled at the USA by the Soviets was the terrible treatment of its minority citizens.
Given that during that time period, America would have also been trying to establish political relations with many African nations to maintain an edge over their Soviet rivals, how did they treat the ambassadors sent to them?

Let's suppose I'm an Albanian who's living in Tirana during the rule of Enver Hoxha. What is my life expectancy? Am I able to move from Albania? How controlled is my life by the government?

In History Channel's World Wars last night, they suggested Hitler shaved his mustache into how we all know it because his gas mask wouldn't properly seal. Is this true?

I can see it being accurate because it was filmed relatively shortly after the war. On the other hand, certain facts may have not come out yet.

My grandfather was given this bible as a gift. It is in German and had a modern insert labeling it as a "Gutenberg Bible." My grandmother remembers it saying somewhere that it was from 1600, but now we can't find that page and an appraiser said it was worthless because the original first page has been ripped out (perhaps where she remembers seeing the date).

Is it really a Gutenberg bible? Do you think it's from 1600? My grandmother is German and can translate anything if that would help answer these questions. I also have the bible in my possession and can take more pictures if needed.
Is there any way to sell it? What would be the best museum to donate it to and how would I go about that?
I admire this community and would appreciate any advice! I apologize if this is not the correct subreddit for this question.

Watching the CBC coverage of the playoffs, and noticed the difference in a sequence where they cut together clips from the 50s and 60s with tape of more recent games. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about:
So, when did the switch come? Additionally, a smooth curve seems both more logical, more common in other sports, and easier to manufacture, so why have the B-shape in the first place? And then why move away from it?
Thanks!

The idea of a warrior who becomes savage and fierce and uncontrollable makes sense in the narrative kind of war that revolves around lots of individual fights between warriors, but seems totally out of place in battles like the ones I understand were actually fought in the 9th-11th centuries (shield walls pressed against each other). Did Berserkers exist at all other than as a literary invention? Were they shock troops who flung themselves at a wall? Were they only "savage and uncontrolled" after an opposing force broke?

There has to be some truth as to what they are basing their victory on.
