What role did the Sacred Band play in the Theban victory over Sparta at Leuctra?

I've heard and read quite a bit about the Sacred Band, having first encountered them in Total War and then been curious about their actual historical role in conflicts. How influential were they in battle, particularly in their famous appearance at Leuctra?

Good books on understanding revolutionary Latin America/Caribbean nations

I was looking for book suggestions which talk about post colonial nations history. I know this is a broad history, so maybe a survey, or something along those lines.

Long dresses and muck.

Why did women wear such long skirts in the medieval ages and beyond when they would be dragged through mud/offal/snow and no doubt be stained and heavy and soggy? Was is modesty? Fashion? Warmth?

I've recently found out that there is a conspiracy theory asserting that nuclear bombs are a fraud. How far back can this assumption be traced? Where there people in 1945 already who thought that the bombs where just propaganda?

The conspiracy theory attributes the destruction of the cities to carpet bombings.

Did scientists have any expectations as to what the Trinity-explosion would look like, and if so, how accurate were these predictions?

I know that many (all?) of the onlookers were awe-struck by what happened, but I don't know whether they had formulated any expectations of what the explosion was going to look like beforehand, and how correct these expectations were (if indeed they had any expectations at all).

From this article:

“The whole country was lighted by a searing light with the intensity many times that of the midday sun,” [General Thomas Farrell] wrote immediately afterward. “It was golden, purple, violet, gray, and blue. It lighted every peak, crevasse, and ridge of the nearby mountain range with a clarity and beauty that cannot be described but must be seen to be imagined. It was that beauty the great poets dream about but describe most poorly and inadequately.”

“Just as I put my foot on the ground I was enveloped with a warm brilliant yellow white light—from darkness to brilliant sunshine in an instant,” [Ernest O. Lawrence] wrote.

“The enormity of the light and its length quite stunned me,” [James Conant] wrote. “The whole sky suddenly full of white light like the end of the world.”

[Luis Alvarez] likened the debris cloud, which rose to a height of some thirty thousand feet in ten minutes, to “a parachute which was being blown up by a large electric fan,” noting that it “had very much the appearance of a large mushroom.”

“It looked like a giant mushroom; the stalk was the thousands of tons of sand being sucked up by the explosion; the top of the mushroom was a flowering ball of fire,” [Charles Thomas] wrote. “It resembled a giant brain the convolutions of which were constantly changing.”

Thomas: “It is safe to say that nothing as terrible has been made by man before.” Lawrence: “There was restrained applause, but more a hushed murmuring bordering on reverence.” Farrell: “The strong, sustained, awesome roar…warned of doomsday and made us feel that we puny things were blasphemous.”

I'm trying to make an accurate castle in Minecraft. I've read that the Great Hall was on the second floor of some/most castles (the period I'm aiming for is around the 1000s-1300s). What would be on the ground floor underneath this Great Hall? (More questions in text)

Thank you for reading this, first of all.

What would normally be underneath a Great Hall if it was on the second floor of this castle?

And where would the bed chambers for the royal family, visiting guests, and the servants? Would it be in the curtain wall? Also, where would the bathrooms normally be?

I'm not aiming for a castle with a village inside it. I'm aiming for a castle similar to Farleigh Hungerford castle.

Thank you for all the information you may be able to submit.

In the early middle ages of Europe, how did new monarchies become established? Did someone just walk in and announce "Greetings! I am now your ruler! Bow to me!"

I don't mean how people already with power came in and conquered places, I mean how did these sorts of people even gained power INITIALLY and formed rule (meaning also not inherited, just from scratch), while others were stuck as peasants.
