I have a friend's birthday coming up, and she absolutely adores italian renaissance fashion. I thought I might try to find her a book about it or something akin to that. She loves historic fashion in general, so if I could find anything to do with that, it'd be great! Thank you so much for your help, take care.

With the technical expertise of captured Nazi scientists at the end of WW2, why was there no use of either the V-1 or V-2 technologies in the test bed of Korea? The technology was there, and several years have passed to allow for refinement. So why was there no use of these technologies after WW2?

I'm thinking about the number of military aircraft produced during the Cold War (and after it as well) compared to the enormous amounts produced during WWII, but I believe my question applies to other kinds of weapons as well.

I've heard a lot of Indigenous Peoples are descendants of Chinese explorers. Is there any evidence that Anishinaabe are, too?
I thought I heard somewhere that that is the case, and I saw something today that made me think:

My S/O and I went out and grabbed breakfast at a "classically" styled diner. Black and white tiling on the walls, a lot of chrome and red and white colors with 1950s vintage memorabilia on the walls.
Is this how diners once looked in the US in the 1950s and '60s or is this "vintage" look more of a romanticized style that came about in recent years to add character or something?

See title. Seemed like a creative idea when I read about it, but it was apparently vaguely "unworkable". Why is that?

I'm mostly curious about how changes to rituals were justified among those within the Christianity. I'm specifically interested in early Christian thinkers and the Catholic Church. How did they justify their claims? Would those proposing the changes tend to argue that God himself wanted the change, or did they tend to argue that the changes would simply allow them to worship better and was essentially unrelated to the will of God? Were other types of arguments commonly employed?
When talking about changes I mean changes both big and small. For example, these could be changes about when to sit or stand during mass, what Psalms to sing for what service, or whether some rituals should even be performed at all.

Given that hotels have not been around that long, how did travelers and business people in the Roman world and medieval Europe go about finding a place to stay at their destination?

For instance, regarding gods of agriculture, I found Vervactor, Reparator, Insitor, Obarator, Serritor, and many others while I thought Ceres was the only one.
Why do so many Greek and Roman gods overlap?

So I know the purges were used as a fear tactic to intimidate loyalty, a way to curb over population as a means to ensure some people are fed and have jobs, and removing political opponents. But what I ask is if there were any other reasons for the russian people to be sent to the gulags or straight up executed while Stalin was in charge?

When the German Empire was dismantled after loosing ww1 they turned to fascism. The Ottoman empire was also dismantled after loosing ww1 so why didn't they turn to fascism? Did turkey atleast become more nationalist after ww1? Thanks for answers.

Additionally, are there any other instances of states calling themselves one thing when they existed (like the Byzantines calling themselves Roman), and being relabeled after their fall?

For a laymen to military history like me, chariots don't seem nearly as good as horse archers. Chariots needed to be crafed, very expensively, often needed two people, a driver and an archer (or sometimes three in Assyria, a driver, shieldbearer, and the archer) to function. Given their size, you can fit relatively few archers on any given size of an area (even if moving)
In comparison, a horse archer takes half the space, so you can have more of them at mentioned given area, doesn't need costly and hard ot maintain contraptions, and it's only one guy you have to pay/force in to service.
What am I missing?

In 1492 there were indigenous traders travelling long distances throughout the Americas by land and by sea. When Europeans first arrived, were they seen as particularly important, or would they have been thought of as just another visitor, albeit wealthy and well-armed?

Upon searching for this, all I could find were the BC equivalent years, and as I'm sure the Egyptions weren't counting down to the birth of Christ, what did they number their years? Was it changed at all between the dynasties?

In the village where I live there was an incident (pretty well known and seems to be reasonable from what I could find out) where after american soldiers put the local NSDAP "chairman" in a tank wagon and shot at the wagon.
whikle some claim they did it to kill him/ would have been totally okay with killing him, others said that they were opting for the loud noises created inside to traumatize him.
So my question is, how much harm does an average WW2 assaut rifle do to a WW2 tank wagon, which answer seems more reasonable. Also if there are sources of similar happenings, Id be thankful too.

I'm an undergrad student studying history at a large public university, and my dream right now is to teach at the college level, write books, do research, etc. I know that it's a difficult field break into, so I'd really appreciate any advice! Also I'm just curious about how historians think. The specific questions I had in mind are: What are some things you wish you had known when you started pursuing a history related career? What are some tips for getting into/surviving grad school? What's your process for conducting research and avoiding confirmation bias? What are some books I should read? I know this is a lot, but I want to be as knowledgeable as possible going forward and any wisdom would be appreciated!
