I've always been bothered by the lyrics "Now Watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you?".

Most things I read about the Watergate scandal make it seem like the sentiment was in general people thought it was wrong but was there a large group of people that weren't bothered by it as the song would imply?

Did the Native Americans on the eastern seaboard ever send a "Lewis and Clark" type expedition to discover what was west of their lands over the Appalachians? Were they never curious of what might exist out west? What knowledge, if any, did the Natives have of western lands? Thanks!

I was reading the saxon tales by bernard cornwell and in the books if the had a small amount of prisoners they just kill them but if they had a large amount they would just cut off their sword hand and let them go. Is this accurately for this time period.

I'm traveling to Europe to study WW1 in a few months and I'd love to read up on it beforehand. I'm mainly interested in historical books that go through the war chronologically but I'd gladly take advice on WW1 related novels as well!

The person of interest being an unlanded aristocrat (if that was how things worked back then) or just a rich person but one who does not own any Titles, like a county or a Duchy. How much (then and now) would this cost, I've heard that it would cost a house but I know little about the prices of various homes back then in difference classes.

So let's say that Shakespeare finished a play. Hamlet, Julius Caesar, The Tempest, you name it. After he finishes, how does he go about getting it published/produced? Did he have any direct involvement in producing it? Or heaven forbid did he ever act in any plays? Did any theaters "reject" his plays because they didn't think they would be financially feasible? Feel free to talk about any other playwrights or general theater life during this time period as I know the information around Shakespeare can be insufficient at times.

I am specifically interested in what the chinese are taught about the Quing-Dynasty and the warlord era. I would like to know how they view conflicts china had with European powers, such as the opium wars and the forced leasing of ports, but also internal struggles like the Taiping rebellion and the warlord era. Does there exist any bias in how they view this time and if so, how does this affect university level education?

Based on my understanding, the Holocaust was a murderous system involved hundreds of thousands of people directly or indirectly, used industrial methods for killing Jews, had transportation systems such as railways that supported it. To me it seems that a huge drain on resources when it had no military value. Was this a huge waste of resources on Germany war-making abilities?

Follow up question: During the Age of Exploration when these expeditions would go into unknown waters, how feasible was it to feed themselves at least partially from fishing the water around them?
