Best history channels on youtube?

I am a strong believer in studying your passion instead of being a slave to neoliberalism and getting a "productive" job that pays well but you hate, which is why I chose history as my major. Of course, I still want to do something with that fancy piece of paper! (Even if it might not pay quite as well as being a petroleum engineer or whatever) I know an undergraduate degree in History is really nothing special which is why I'm going to go for graduate school after I'm done with this degree. I know a PhD level is basically required to have any hope at Acedemia, but what how competitive are acedemia positions? Is there anything else I can do with just a master's? Anything else with a PhD?

It seems to me that there has to be at least one group of people who stayed abreast of Abrahamic prophecy and were able to transition from old to new as the religious traditions evolved and spread.

I've noticed a lot of recipes from the 1700s to the early 1900s called for gooseberries, now it's largely ignored.

What happened to the members of the Ordnungspolizei after the German surrendered? Were they interned? What happened to higher ranking officers? Especially, members of the schutzpolizei, fire brigades, and the gendarmerie.

I would like to start off by saying I love history, mainly pre 1100's but I still love it all. I would like to currently take the best course of action to learning more at an indepth amount per (era)?. One of my favourites is mesopotamian civilation followed closely by Macedonia.

I'm currently thinking of taking a university course or two every semester at night just for the knowledge factor and would like opinions on what would be a good route to go on the professional education side of things.

I'm also looking for book/textbook recommendations for ancient history. I would like to add though that it doesn't have to be about my favourites as I love it all:)

Watching Inglorious Basterds tonight, and Yes I am aware that this movie is FAR from an accurate historical account or example, but I am curious if there are any known examples of soldiers that acted honorably or are considered honorable, or do we as society class all Nazi/german soldiers under the same banner of dishonorable? Most movies I've seen make it seem like every soldier, down to to their e-1 equivalent were as evil as Hitler himself. Was the historical Wehrmacht as bad as this movie makes it seem, or were there decent soldiers caught up in a bigger world-historical event?

So in playing a variant of Rome total war, I noticed that the faction "Holy Roman Empire" all had German names, language, culture, etc. etc.

Is this even true or is my game just historically inaccurate?

I always assumed that the Roman Empire was based out of Rome and as such was Italian in culture, heritage, etc.

I read about an account written by a Catholic that talked about Byzantines having automatons inside their throne-room. I can neither find the book that I read it from or find the Bishop that gave the account, so I am obviously wary of citing it when speaking about Byzantine technology.

So, my question is; did the Byzantines, (Or did said Bishop report that they) have things such as that? And if so, can you point me to sources?

Do far all I've been able to find was that the revolution was started because Batista fixed an election, but im sure there has to be more then that. Any and all answers are appreciated.

Recently I've been reading up a lot on all things Nazi related. Set aside their genocidal hatred for the Jews, I remain confused about their political ideology. I've heard from left leaning sources they were far right lunatics and from right leaning sources that they were in fact more left wing due to socialism part of their ideology. I think we can all agree that the extreme nationalism and racial fascism qualifies as far right/authoritarianism, however Hitler famously despised Marxists so I don't understand the socialism title they gave themselves. I've heard other explanations calling them extreme authoritarians or completely syncratic (removed from classic political scales). Any answer would be appreciated, thank you

I recently was watching an episode of the TV series Vikings. In it they took some mushrooms which seemed to have pyschedelic effects. I was wondering whether this was really the case, and if so what were their purpose - purely for pleasure, or religious? And what were attitudes towards them from other Christians?

During Operation Barbarossa, what tanks and AFVs would the Kingdom of Hungary have been employing at the time?

Of the vehicles employed, which would have had access to radios? Are they fairly ubiquitous like with Germany armor, or found more sparsely/only with reconnaissance vehicles like many of the Allies?

Did Hungarian doctrine treat tanks as an infantry support weapon, similar to the French? A mobile breakthrough weapon, like the Wehrmacht? Or in some other manner?

Finally, during the initial stages of Operation Barbarossa, what color/camouflage would Hungarian vehicles have been painted in? Would the Unit/National identification markers been displayed or covered at this stage?

I watched Roots (2016) and the TV series Underground (2016) recently and it made we wonder why it wasn't more common that slaves would escape and then use forged papers. I understand that this might have been difficult for slaves that came directly from Africa but the following generation could speak English and some could read/write. So couldn't they just forge papers? Even if that was difficult for some, why wasn't there a black market? Wasn't it quite easy for white people to create such forged papers?

It seem like once slaves managed to escape and travel far enough so that people wouldn't know their owners, it would have been difficult to verify whether their papers are real or not. Also theoretically you could get new papers several times while continuing to switch towns, so that it would be close to impossible to track you down.

I assume I'm missing something, considering that this seemingly didn't happen.

The Ides of March certainly sound great, but if we celebrated the anniversary of the famous assassination would it actually be March 15? The Julian calendar was only a few years old at the time, and it was centuries before leap days were fully accounted for. I've tried to find an answer, but haven't found any good resources on how the original Julian calendar worked, or how it compares with a modern calendar.

The majority are at KV9 and the oldest ones date to 278 BC.

Quick context: I'm making an asymmetric card game for two players, in which one player plays a spy stationed in a foreign country (e.g. the UK) during WW2, with the goal of gathering intelligence for his country. The other player's goal is to protect said secrets, and capture the spy. If you've played the game Netrunner, this game is partially inspired by that.

In that context, I'm curious about what methods spies would use during WW2 to gather intelligence, as well as how said intelligence was protected. I'd also be interested in any easily accessible literature that might provide me with further information on the topic.
