As many people, I have become incredibly interested in the early years of the United States through the Hamilton soundtrack. While I was reading a few wikipedia articles on this, I was surprised to read this concept I had only heard in regards to Citizens United and other such court cases.
Politics aside, how old is this concept of organizations or corporations as people and are there any similarly interesting times in history when this was invoked? (I'm guessing perhaps this applies to churches or the Catholic church?)

Me and a friend from the UK had a disagreement on who had the best fire-control systems in WWII (Radar and visual ranging, fire control computers, reliability). We managed to agree that it was either the Royal Navy or the United States Navy due to their technological superiority in the field of computing and radars. He says it was the Royal Navy (Due to the RN having a strong naval tradition and good knowledge of warships in general, he's also a big RN fan) while i'm fairly certain it was the US Navy (due to their access to a bigger RnD base and them at the time fielding technology no one else had). There are few web-sources on the subject which is why i now come to you historians
Please help us solve this once and for all.

This historian is known for his theory that Hitler was actually a fairly incompetent and weak Dictator without much of an overarching plan for his Final Solution. He postulates that the worst atrocities of the Holocaust were caused not by specific planning and Hitlers iron fist forcing support for his plans, but by the myriad of disoganized rivalries in the Nazi party. That the main driving factor behind the Holocaust was the "cumulative radicalization" of the different sects of Nazism as they competed with eachother for Hitlers attention and good favor by showing their dedication to the few strong beliefs that Hitler often expressed.
I'm not very informed on the subject but the theory sounds solid to me. The nazi high command was split between men of ambition and different worldviews and the disoganized, haphazard way that the exterminations were commited lends credence to the theory. The idea of cumulative radicalism also seems to fit my understanding of how people work. The concept seems to apply to a wide variety of situations, such as political parties and the formation of religions.
So what is your take on the "Weak Dictator" theory? What is the historical communities concensus?

I see many people on Reddit referencing FDR and the New Deal when talking about Bernie Sanders and I'm curious as to why, since it is at least arguable that the New Deal did not achieve its goal.

Hello, I'm asking what is the "real" answer to a quite heated debate. In Richard III when Richard asks the Queen to give her daughter to him she agrees and kisses (?) him. She later sends a letter to Richmond promising him her daughter Elizabeth. My question is are Richard and the Queen in a romantic relationship and is she tricking him or is she actually handing her daughter over and changing her mind later? Since Richard has no interest in women if the queen is in love with him the she truly must love him in some twisted way, then if she loves him it wouldn't be too far fetched that she'd give up her daughter to him. Holinshed seems to lean that she loves genuinely loves Richard and isn't tricking him but more recent feminist readings seem to say that they are not in a romantic relationship and the stage directions that say "embrace" is a hug not a kiss. However since several has portrayed the relationship between them I am wondering what is the truth? I have been told I misunderstand the concept of their relationship because I believe she is "in love" with him.
Was there any basis on this relationship in real life? How close were Elizabeth Woodville and Richard III irl?

Overpopulation? Changing environment? If there are different theories, I'd be interested in hearing all of them.

I'm thinking, I suppose, of the period say 500-1400 or so, which I realize predates the "official" split between the churches. In particular, I tend to think of eastern/Orthodox monasteries as being much more interested in hesychasm and meditative practices than western monasteries, and more detached from the world, but I don't know if that's true or not.

Title says it all. I just found out that my grandma, who is from Prussia, lost her family home to the Russians during WWII. Is that just part of war? And is there anything she can do about it now?

The Argo in the Golden Fleece and the lists of ships in Homer's works imply boat naming's been around for a long time- and there are mentions of boat names in other world lit as well... do we have any idea when this might have started?

I'm writing a story set in the stone age. The idea of having to hunt for your food for survival fascinates me. I don't want to fall into the realms of fantasy. I want it to be based on factual representation as much as possible. What are things I should take into consideration when working on this novel?
My premise is to do with a female protagonist who wants to become part of a group known as the Wolf Hunters. The problem is, women are not allowed to hunt. It is part of the tribe's tradition to forbid women and children from leaving the village and being exposed to the dangers of the wild. Only a group of the Wolf Hunters are allowed to leave the village and pursue prey.
Thanks.

I have always loved spy novels and such and while I know a decent about the CIA during the Cold War my knowledge of the KGB is extremely limited. What training would an operative receive ?

Most talk of nobles acknowledging their bastard children is about sons. Are there cases of bastard daughters being acknowledged and given the family name of their father/being taken into the family?
This question mostly pertains to medieval Western-European nobility (say 1100-1300), but I'd love to hear of any cases throughout history.

So Hitler killed himself in April 1945 in the final days of the war. And the Nuremberg trials were in '45-'46. West Germany (/BFD/Federal Republic of Germany) was founded in 1949.
Did W. Germany have any plans for what they could have done if Hitler had been found alive inside W. Germany? Any plans for what would they have done from a legal/jurispurdence point of view? I presume they'd want to arrest and try him? Did they have any plans for what exactly to try him with? Would they have executed him? Did they plan a public trail? etc?
I'm not suggesting that W. Germany thought Hitler was still alive hiding in a bunker in Bavaria or anything (right?), but maybe someone, somewhere, at some point, had to write up a legal guide for a "just in case" scenario. And if so, what did it say?
I'm a little interested in what East Germany/DDR had planned "just in case", however E. Germany didn't stick to the rule of law as much, so I presume if they'd found him, they'd have no issues with trying to follow proper legal rules, and have a trial. Or they'd ship him off to USSR which also could do what it wanted.

Why is it that you never come across anyone with the surname 'Hitler' nowadays? Am I correct in assuming that a lot of Hitlers changed their name as it became associated with the Fuhrer?

I'm particularly interested in Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. I found a recipe online which apparently was written by George Washington. Also, I read that Jefferson and Madison wrote to each other about beer and even a federal brewery. I would love to know more about the styles that were brewed by these men.

I have spent my entire adult life either in the military or as a military contractor. I also shoot recreationally. Through my experience, I have learned that guns are LOUD. I have always been issued or used some form of hearing protection when possible (Peltors, foam earplugs, "combat earplugs"). I am specifically thinking about our more conventional wars, like WW2, when combat was more intense and far more likely to be encountered. Did they get issued hearing protection or did just about every infantryman go deaf after WW2?
