I'm just over a quarter of the way through, and I'm at an impasse as far as motivation is concerned. Been stuck on the same word-count for over a month. I had to change my title after getting myself a few chapters in which cut me down from being nearly 75% of the way through to being just over 25% of the way through. I've got all the ideas and primary sources noted down but i'm finding it impossible to motivate myself to get it written up properly. Successful academics, please give me some tips to help me get writing!

GOP, NATO, and USSR, are all capitalized across every letter why is Nazi not? Is it a grammar thing or convention?

I was reading a Louisa May Alcott book and couples were making arrangements to pair up for "The German" part of a ball with implications that it was a little more serious than the rest of the dances. Google just gives me a lot of German politics. Was it a particular dance or something else?

I know Fire-Eaters were preaching secession for a long time before it happened, but I know that whenever I hear someone today talking about secession (i.e. Texas) I roll my eyes and scoff. Would most northerners have had the same reaction to secessionist rhetoric pre-secession?
