Hello, Does anybody know of any evidence of ancient people that were as technologically advanced as we are today?

I mean in the 300 million years ago range... where it would have been difficult to detect their existence.

I've been looking for articles on Athenian defenses in regards to cities, and have found surprisingly little. Anyone know anything about it?

Also, why are different country's forms of sign language so different?

They have to be pinpoint accurate historically.

So I'm taking AP U.S. History and so far whenever a student has asked this question the teacher replies "Slavery." While I understand that the institution of slavery had a lot to do with it, I find it hard to believe that the situation was so black and white (no pun intended). It seems crazy that 11 whole states would choose to incite a large-scale war with the United States just because they wanted to own human beings and the other side didn't.

Was it the Central or the Allies? Are there any accounts of doing the job?

Has there been any informed work done, to your knowledge, to provide a sound estimate of what percentage of the human population lived as hunter-gatherers in the medieval period?

It appears clear that people living in agricultural/civilized/pastoralist societies were a majority, but what about people doing things the old way? What were their absolute numbers like.

I'm having a conversation elsewhere about this and the other person is very confident that no more than 3% could possibly have lived in this fashion, in that period.

It appears to me that Eurasia, in general, had very few zones where immediate-return foraging would have been viable in the medieval era. So whatever the global population of foragers was, it seems to me that it was probably concentrated in the heavily forested areas of South America, Africa and south Asia/Indonesia.

To reiterate, I'm looking for informed estimates of numbers, and good estimates of what proportion of overall humanity they represented.

I'm looking for published research on this question, if any exists. If none does, then I'll be happy with your original research.

I remember reading that Ghengis Khan had a river's course shifted to pass over the city he had conquered to show disrespect towards the fallen enemies.
Is that true, and was river course changing ever a thing in warfare?

Empires were the dominant form of territorial organisation from pretty much the dawn of civilisation right up until the 20th century. Why, at that point in particular, was the form of government which had consistently dominated the world for almost 4000 years replaced by the presence of modern nation-states?

In reading about both Goering and Milch I have been picking up bits and pieces of the technical aspect of the air war in defending Germany from British and American bombers and have picked up bits and pieces of it. Namely, that it was more complex than I thought with the process of vectoring in aircraft, the bombers faking direction, radar signals and jamming, and that the air war ebbed and flowed with periods of the bombers getting through fairly easily vs., surprisingly, many periods when the Luftwaffe would adjust tactics and hold the upper hand for a few weeks or a month.

Is there any one good book that describes this technical aspect that anyone can recommend?

My professor explained that they were modern day CEOS and business leaders but from what i'm reading it seemed like they were more like a modern congress keeping checks and balances on the president. What were their roles and what were their significance?

I'm interested in learning why the two powers wanted spheres of influence there. Was it as a check against the Ottomans? Security in the Mediterranean? Or a check against Russia? Access to other regions?
