I am interested in contemporary history (post-1960). The thesis will range from 60 to 100 pages in length.

I am also interested in war and diplomacy theory (Fearon, Pape, Bates, etc... I play a lot of poker). Because of this theoretical interest, I'm leaning toward a focus on Kissinger during the Ford administration. Maybe something about Kissinger's transition from an idealist to a pragmatist?

My biggest concern is originality. I would like to avoid writing about something that someone has already covered in a book about Kissinger. Would you suggest I focus on a different statesmen? Should my focus be broader (change in policy over time) or narrower (the meaning of a specific event)?

In the past decades, previous decades' fashion seems to get recycled in a never-ending loop of retro fashion remixes. Is this an invention of the 20th century fashion industry, or has this always happened, e.g. in times where fashion was dictated/developed at court? I know that, for example, Victorian silhouettes changed quite drastically over the years, but from what I've seen, it seems more like a linaer progression than the timey-wimey-ness of current retro fashion.

So, I was wondering... Do we know of a fashionable queen who "brought back" the bustle/pointy hats/Spanish lace/see-through chest panels/a funky kind of obi knot as an homage to previous fashion generations? A king who brought back his great-grandfather's wigs? A movement to bring the codpiece up to Edwardian speed?
